...the horns are in a big time batting slump with prospects. I think we missed one with Evan Washington going to LSU. It's to the point where we NEED some good recruiting news here...aggy and others are adding some surprisingly good players while we've dropped a couple of previously committed ones. Not good. Someone find something to cheerful to talk about here.

Since Texas just about filled up the bus in the first week of recruitng, it's not possible to maintain momentum through the summer and fall. Sadly enough for those like me who love to see new prospects coming into the fold, getting 19 or 20 verbals in February kills the fun for the rest of the year.
Sadly enough, from March through signing day 2010 North Texas and SMU have more to look forward to than we Hornfans.

Well....you can't really both load up with lots of players at the beginning and then continue to add additional players throughout the summer/fall.

There is only so much excitement to be had. This happens every year for the last few. We load up on recruits in the Spring and then wonder why we other schools start to catch up in the summer/fall.

The only thing that matters is where we end up (and, of course, how those players eventually perform on campus). The "momentum" aspect doesn't help/hurt. It's just something to talk about.

That said....there are 4-5 players still out there that I'd love, love, love to see verbal to us (Seastrunk, Hicks, Jeffcoat, White & Matthews). Doesn't seem like we are in the lead for any except White, but I'd really like to see as many of these as possible become Longhorns.

As someone else said, the benefits of early recruiting are neither bad or good. It is what it is. You snagged several nice players and remain in the running for a few more.

UT doesn't lead for White, though. Amazing to say, given the commanding position they held no more than 3 months ago, but it's the truth. I'd say it's 60/40 Oklahoma, at this point. Things are fluid, so we'll see how it plays out. He is much closer to Rashod Favors than I originally thought, who appears close to casting his lot with the Sooners, so that will help OU.

Not if you are a dirt burglar. they are just nice.

Hypersensitive, much? Geez.

Nice means a lot of things, none of which could be construed as negative. I consider all of the guys committed to OU 'nice,' too. There are only a handful of guys in any given class who I'd label great and neither of our programs has landed such a player yet.

Texas has 5 of the national top 100. That's 28% with 18 committed. We will probably take 1-2 more outside the top 100 and hopefully get 1-2 more in. That's a bit more then nice. This is a top 10 class already with a good chance to be top 5. Mack can add a few late bloomers any time along the way regardless of what happens at the top.

I agree with Pevodog Wilson and Bible are both huge gets for UT. I my mind Wilson was the most important recruit for Texas outside of Seastruck. Watching Wilson's highlights just brings excitement.

Thanks 71grad. I heard that he and Gilbert have some great chemistry. He could be the next Shipley out there. They're aren't all superstars but they are damned good football players.
