All Aboard....Longhorn Bandwagon Leaving Station Now! On or Off??

They turned it around in the last three last year and maybe they can do it again.
we already have two conference loses ... there's the diff. last year we beat OU.

This year, we don't have to be concerned about that. May be BU and OU in a rematch.

Naw, at this point, we're playing for weedeater bowl .... and that's iffy. KState may have snuck one in on boomer ... but we're clearly not as good as boomer.

So .... I've got KState winning tomorrow on my espn pick. Have to travel to IO WaY ... that's a push.

BU in Waco ... think they'll be ready to play at 7-1 by then? Fully expecting to hear from my BU grad cousin in a couple of weeks.

Closeout hosting Techie? They're certainly beatable, but we are too.

We are at least as likely to finish 1-3 as 3-1 ... to teams we should have in the W column short of real oddity. But we don't have the confidence. We don't have the scheme. We don't have the game plan other than ... Let Sam go.

We had two conference losses at this time last year (one game later) OSU and WV back to back before Iowa State which I think we had a bye before playing them, but not sure about that. As I recall, Iowa State had won a few consecutive going into the game and it sure looked like we were headed for 7-5 at the time.

it sure looked like we were headed for 7-5 at the time.

yes ... and we beat OU last year.

Not this year. The team is not playing well overall. We have some bright spots, but as I said ... we're simply not where we need to be. Last year didn't have last year on which to build.

We're not building.

My 1st game was 1959 against aggy.

I've moved closer to the door a few times in all those years, but still on the train.

Personally I don't feel we should make these distinctions. How someone wants to spend their money and their time is up to them. Doesn't make them a good person or bad, or even a good fan or bad. Older I get (59) more I realize how precious time is. I'm 3/4 done with life probably best case. No male in my family has ever lived past 80.

I've been following Texas football since I can remember. I used to have everyone's stats memorized. I could tell you everything there was to know about every Cowboy too. But now, as I get older I'm choosing joy over allegiance. I still work really hard. Was in 3 cities this week. So weekends are precious. If I'm finding joy in what I'm doing I'll choose that. I throughly enjoyed the LSU game. Haven't really enjoyed a game since. Because with LSU I thought we played about to our capabilities. Sure I was pissed we dropped a sure TD and gave up a 3rd and 17, but overall we played well. We played like crap against OSU and OU. Worse rest of the way. By TCU I had just had it being mad at the team. Went fishing instead. I don't believe this makes me a bad fan. Just one that realizes this is a game. And if you're not finding joy in it, do something else. I'll watch this week, because I think mentally I'm ready to just try and enjoy the game. I'll watch LSU/Bama too. And I'll watch whichever game I'm enjoying the most. Life is just too precious to sit on your couch and scream at the TV. I'm done with that. If that makes me a bad fan so be it. It sure the hell will make me a better husband and father. I have my grand child this weekend. He comes 1st and he's not going to see my yell at the TV like my kids endured.

Great Post @wadster

There is stirring at the Flying V right now ... youngest and his GF are home from school on the high plain (no not Tech, thankfully, but just up the road ... ag teacher wanna be)

Anyhow ... breakfast will soon be on, they'll be conscious ... and we'll start the trek to Austin. They're no longer my full time responsibility ... so let's enjoy the 24 hours. They'll be returning tomorrow to the land where the only thing between him and the north pole is a laid-over barbed wire fence. LOL

Will enjoy the day with him ... and if the Horns happen to get it done, marvelous. If they choke .... again ... not gonna gnash teeth about it. It's just a game and Herman calling 95 WR bubble screens is NOT going to affect my day/week anymore.

Good perspective on life, wadster. All I will say is this: being on the bandwagon doesn't mean you sacrifice all other activities upon the altar of Longhorn football. At least, I have never considered that to be part of the definition. To me, being on the bandwagon means that you're willing wear a burnt orange shirt the day after Route 66, or after one of the humiliating early '00s beatdowns against OU, *edit* or throughout Charlie Strong's tenure etc. *end edit* It means you're always going to represent the school, not hide your loyalty when things are going poorly. That's what earns the honest pride of wearing burnt orange on, say, January 5th, 2006 when everybody and their dog is also wearing our colors.

Shark man you're killing me. We've always agreed on so much. You've almost single-handedly ruined the party on the train and it hasn't even pulled out of the station yet. You've hit a few nails w your analysis, no doubt....but I think the majority of your conclusions/projections will prove wrong.
Guess it is making for some fun (suspense at least?) watching it unfold and finding out what happens together.
I do think playing it safe w the car is a good idea.

I love this post.
Totally agree. This is why I like to (try to) view football the way I do and enjoy it for some basic reasons...not going nuts over every imperfection, bump in the road, poor coaching decision, bad record, or whatever. It's a game...should be viewed as such.
If it can't be kept in a healthy, reasonable persepctive... then stop watching and following immediately and take Wadster's advise.

If you think about it, if not for Gundy's poor play calling, thats our 3rd conference loss.

I don't know if we've out coached any other team.

IDK, I just have no excitement about this team right now. I want us to win, of course, but I think it's more hoping than believing we can.

Oh well, time to go fly my flag like I do every game day weekend. :hookem:

Totally agree. Always wear my Horn shirts. Heck pretty much everything I own has a Horn logo. Kids get me all this stuff for Christmas. I'll always wear burnt orange. Always love Texas. But if I'm not enjoying it, I'll do something else. It's really my personal defect that I need to work on. I used to live and die with Horn football. We lose, I'd be mad for days and evreryone in the family would avoid me for a day or 2. That's just got to stop. So trying to grow up some at almost 60. And I think it's going to be baby steps and the first step is if you aren't having fun do something else. Long term I hope to be able to enjoy the games win or lose. I can enjoy the games win or lose when I think we play to close to our best and the coaches have a clue. But I'm just not there yet where I can enjoy the game when I feel our coaches are clueless. I hope to get there some day. Just not there yet. I have incredibly high expectations in the work world and have achieved a lot of success. Usually I'm in the top 2% of people everywhere I've been and I've worked for some of the very best in the industry. So when I see what I've seen this year I project those type expectations on the coaches and it leaves me just shaking my head. Anyway, hoping for improved play coming off the bye. But if I see the same crap on D, I'm done for this year and hope we make the necessary changes.

Fly your American flag too. Veterans day is Monday. Support a vet.

Glass half full...glass half empty.
You are correct, but I look at that game and say...if not for two poor executions on PRs down the stretch..we beat them by 16ish.
I say potato you say potato (lol...doesn't really work in print)
Oh well...hook 'em

The only reason I am not going to the game is that I have a repairman shoulder-deep in my refrigerator right now.

I love my Horns, win or lose. But I do admit to being disgusted at what I have seen.

You got that, Wadster. That's dead on target. I hit level 65 this past summer. We have 2 grown boys, the youngest is in the Marines, the oldest is out of college and is a radio sports broadcaster. My wife and I wanted some grandkids, but we got tired of waiting on the boys to produce, so we made our own. Now we have a 7 year old daughter. She watches football with us, usually the pro games. Saturdays or Sundays are often spent at the zoo, out in the desert, or watching our daughter run in cross country races. The up early on Saturdays to drive to Austin then drive back afterward have come to an end, especially since we live in Arizona now. Spending time with our daughter outdoors, in the desert wilderness is something we all enjoy as a family and more important than yelling at refs, coaches and players on a TV screen, but occasionally, I still do it.

Did Steve Kerr just become a disgusting coach because Durant left, Klay is hurt, Curry and Draymond are hurt?

This year’s chance was for a lot of young buck backups from last year to come in and be as good or better than the starters last year. Instead, five of those new starters plus some of the new backups are hurt.

Occam’s Razor, one simple explanation. You guys keep looking for more complicated explanations. With a destroyed defense, you call offense differently, too.
I think the program is ok.

And on that note, its.....

Last Call!
All aboard!!
Train leaves in 20 minutes.

Doors will be closing soon.....
