As Craig or Keith said yesterday, "They're making the Commitee look good."

Although Xavier, the team that beat out Rhode Island, is still in versus Rice today.

Conference Breakdown of undefeated teams in Championship game:
SEC: 5 (South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, LSU, Arkansas)
ACC: 3 (Florida St., North Carolina, Virigina)
Big 12: 3 (Texas, Kansas St., Oklahoma St.)
CUSA: 2 (Louisville, Southern Miss)
Pac 10: 1 (Arizona St.)
Mountain West: 1 (TCU)
Big West: 1 (Cal St. Fullerton)

4 of the 8 could be ousted within the next 2 hours, however.

it appears western kentucky just has mizzou's number as they are murdering them again in the rematch 7-0 in the 3rd.
kansas up 1-0 on coastal car. in 6th
baylor and minn tied at 2 in 2nd
ou and wash. st tied at 2. in 3rd

As it turned out, Mizzou having to burn Gibson on Monmouth really looks to be killing them. As a coach, I know you could never wait to use your ace if you are facing an elmination game and if he has yet to pitch (as was the case last night against Monmouth), but in reality, if Mizzou couldn't have gotten past Monmouth with their 3rd starter (and saving Gibson for today), they really wouldn't have had a shot anyway.

kansas blows a chance for some insurance runs with bases loaded with 1 out.... still clinging to 1-0 lead in the 7th now against coastal car.

minny scores 3 with 2 outs in the 7th to comeback and tie baylor. shame. 5-5 going to bot 7th.

kansas advances to this evenings game, OU will advance to play arkansas unless they blow a big late lead. mizzou and atm are on their way out of the tournament shortly....

Ok. State, K. State have games tomorrow! Ticker says ou & arkie play tomorrow, but ou has lost twice!

OU is done. out of it. eliminated. They got two-hit by Arkiesaw and no-hit through 8 for their second loss.

Nine teams have punched their ticket for the Super Regionals so far with one game still in progress (UC Irvine and Virginia). Of the teams that have advanced, 3 are from the SEC, 2 from ACC, 1 Big 12, 1 MWC, 1 Pac 10, 1 Big West.

SEC and ACC still have 3 teams left.

Not a strong showing from the Big 12 this weekend. Overall conference record for the 2009 NCAA Tournament is now 14-13 and will soon be 14-14 if Rice holds on versus Wheat aggy.

Conference USA looking good with Rice and S. Miss. all but through and with East Carolina coming back and now in extra innings after trailing big early.

Truthfully, KSU and OSU nearly overacheived by winning regionals where neither was favored. Where the Big 12 gets the black eye is that OU was a host and coughed it up to Arkysaw. It was kind of like football, I guess.

Interestingly, one of the knocks on Rice is that they dont play in a tough conference yet three teams will advance to super regionals while the Big XII only gets 1, the Big Ten none, the Pac Ten just one and Big East just one.

4 teams in Supers from the ACC & SEC

ACC - Clemson, North Carolina, FSU, and Virginia
SEC - Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi, and LSU

Conference USA has 3 - Rice, Southern Miss, and E. Carolina

And the Big XII only has one.

What does that say about our conference? Was this a down year? Just bad matchups in the Regionals (we did have a few teams at least make the regional final)? OU pulling another choke job (an obvious one)? The umps out to get aggy

?

Or was this just not the Big XII's year, and things will change and cycle as they always seem to do? Thoughts?
