Alex Okafor

I read in the Statesman the other day that we're trying to get him to be a Longhorn, I was wondering if anyone knew what our situation with him is? I saw him play in about 5 games this season and he absolutely dominated. In the State Championship game he was constantly double and triple-teamed, not to mention held on almost every play and he still wreaked havoc. He reminds me of a young Tim Crowder, badass athlete, nice frame to build on, great motor, also plays basketball. Does anyone know where we stand with him?

IIRC, the visit went very well and I think his mother liked Texas. But Okafur wanted to at least visit LSU and Stanford before making a final decision.

Oakfor is a great talent from the Austin area. He would be a great get for us. He is a terror of the edge. He will get bigger in college. very athletic.

Wow, if he's visiting Txas, LSU, and Stanford he must be a badass in the classroom as well as on the field. I'll take guys like that all day.

that is exactly what i was thinking. if he goes to 1 of the 3 schoos listed, he doesnt value education.

Would love to have Okafors manning our ends in the future, Alex and Joe Okafor the junior stud for Bellaire!!! He's also a great rebounder for their basketball team 6-6, 235.

He really is an awesome player, I got to watch him play every Friday this year, and loved it. I really hope he doesn't go to LSU though.

Thanks for the confirmation. A friend went and watched the Klein Forest - Plfugerville basketball game and thought that was the kid, but he arrived to the game late and never got a program.

Did same he looks like a beast and moved incredibly well.

i agree that he is a stud. i think kriegel has to be thought of as a DT, as mack wouldn't offer 4 DEs at the same time.. or would he? (at least it wouldn't make sense to, since Kennard and Okafor seem to be head and shoulders better). in any case, we need 3 DEs this year.

LSU with 2 losses beating OSU is not a great accomplishment in my book. They also beat OU 03 when it was obvious to everyone that USC was the team they should have been playing. I think LSU has been a bit lucky in recent years the way things have worked out.

Man I would like to see a UT vs. LSU home and away in the upcoming years.

i'm not from pfville, but from his words, it seems that he likes texas a lot, would like to stay close to home, but thinks lsu has a great (?greater) chance at championships. wildcard is is mother, who favors texas. i think he'll be a horn.
