The Tide has most of their team back from last year's NCAA second-round matchup in Austin. They added Zay Green in the transfer portal. You may remember her from Duncanville. She went to Tennessee out of high school and had a good couple years before getting injured. She then went to A&M for a year, then on to Arkansas-Little Rock before finally landing at Alabama this season.

Green is probably similar to Ayoka Lee in having been in college for about seven years (no shade just facts) and Taylor Jones who I think is in her sixth year.
At any rate, she's their leading scorer... to me that says something being that they had some very capable scorers already. Christy is a very good coach. This game concerns me.

Texas has really been slow out of the gate lately. Instead of placing themselves in the position of having to catch up, it would be nice for them to start playing effectively right from tip-off. IMO, it's going to catch up with them sooner rather than later. Here's hoping the Alabama game ends the tendency of warming up slowly for Texas.

I see you understand my reason for concern.

Schaefer’s MO is to come out hard on D and hold the other team to 10 or less in first quarter. Sometimes the energy to do this appears to take away offensive efficiency…..slow starts. Ultimately, the defensive pressure wears the opposition down. Note the land thief and piggy games. I imagine this strategy will continue against Tide. Of interest will be what Schaefer does against SC next week. SC is guard heavy and skilled and sometimes Schaefer will pull back the full court pressure…..somewhat. This is my story on slow starts….its free.

I can say this with all the sincerity of someone who doesn’t have to be right all the time…

This team is not losing to Bama at home. It ain’t happening.
