Alabama ahead of Texas? Why?

Bama deserves it at this point. Besides both teams will play multiple big games in the near future.

Doesn't matter at all at this point.

We will have pleanty of opportunity to prove ourselves.

Hook'em

That is a good point about OU not getting jumped, but I might argue that beating Washington on the road and ranked TCU at home is still slightly better than beating UTEP on the road and unranked Arky at home. That's still not as good as what Bama has done, though.

And while I am not usually one for the chip on the shoulder crowd, I do think it unlikely that we would "re-jump" Bama should we beat CU, OU, and Mizzou while Bama is beating Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. It just doesn't seem like the voters would remember the previous state of things.

No need to even worry about it right now because if they earn it on the field then the polls will take care of themselves. Beat both OU and Mizzou in back to back weeks, and Texas will be #1 no matter what Alabama or any other SEC team does. It'll either be proven on the field or not within the next 3 weeks.

I don't know what "fluke loss" means. I do know that USC was not good enough to beat Oregon State. If they were good enough, they would have won.

Who gives a rat's A$$ what we're ranked right now?

All will work itself out if we win out. Right now, we need to worry about beating a solid Colorado team on the road.

Seriously, this is why i wish we had continued to fly under the radar.

I don't see any way that Texas doesn't jump us if ya'll win out. Despite the early season rankings, we're not gonna have the SOS points to stay above you...even if we were to win out.

Regarding winning out, I don't see that happening. Nor will it upset me...at least not too bad...I hope. Not that they are always right, but if you'll think back, none of the experts or talking heads predicted Bama to have any less than 4 losses this year. To me, we've taken Clemson and Georgia, two predicted losses (although to two teams who were vastly overrated) and won those games.

I can easily see us losing to Auburn (freakish defense) and LSU (easily the most talented team in the SEC). And, Miss. State has beaten us two years in a row. Ole Miss has proven that NuttJob knows how to string together an hour's worth of effort from his team.

Right now it's great even being mentioned in the top 5. Still I realize that my Tide is not up to full strength in skill or depth and that will probably come back to bite us.

Bottom line: Saban has exceeded expectations in the first half of the season and has shown why he has the reputation for being a great college football coach. If he is able to put together a similar second half of the season, we need to give the guy a raise.

What's frustrating is that we couldn't do any better with what's in front of us. Our average game is 52-10. OU hasn't done that. Mizzou hasn't done that.

When we obliterate an SEC team 52-10 NO ONE should jump us. What would we have had to do to not be jumped?? WIN 63-0??

Agreed that bama has a more impressive resume, but you can't set a precedent that teams get jumped when they demolish the opponent they have in front of them every single week. Had we won like 31-21... I'd totally get it. Or played Buffalo and won 42-21... I 'd get it.

But we smashed their butts!

If the precedent were set. USC should get jumped when they play one of the many crappy Pac-10 teams, and another team beats the #2 team in the land. That kind of jumping just doesn't happen.

Why should it be accepted now?

Again, I know that we'll be just fine if we win out. But this is crap. USC still being in the top 10 is worse, though.

Texas leads the all-time series against Alabama, 7-0-1.
THAT"S
why we should be ranked ahead. I don't think I need to remind y'all about the '48 game, now do I?
