Another single for aggy. Runners at first and second, no out.

aggy hitting OSU's ace closer hard. He's a true freshman with a 1.17 ERA in 30-plus innings of work.

Line drive off the pitcher, who fields the bounce and throws to first for the first out. Play-by-play says the pitcher could've easily gotten the lead runner at third.

Closer being pulled. Runners at third and second, one out.

Raley out in front of a pitch and barely makes contact. It rolls about 5 feet toward the mound and he's thrown out at first for out No.2. Runners do not move. Still 9-5, two outs.

Another check-swing strikeout gets OSU out of the inning unscathed. aggy really screwed Reveille that inning--had two on with no outs and runners at third and second with one out but couldn't come through.

Wow. Shofner with a three-run homer that brings the ags to within a run, 9-8. Bases empty, two out.

Strike out swinging ends the inning and the game. OSU holds on, 9-8.
 
I'll give it to the aggy players--they don't play very sharply at times and they've really hit a late-season funk, but I haven't seen them quit all year.

aggy fans, however, are a different story. Go check out that Texags game thread. It's a classic. By the fourth inning, most posters were throwing in the towel ... not only on the game, but also on the season. Then, as aggy came back on OSU, the posts shifted from dumping on the team to--what else?--dumping on the "SOB" umpire for screwing them with some called strikes.

I realize that there'd be a lot of bitching here if we were trailing 9-1 in a regional, but I still gotta believe we'd behave better than that. Truly an amazing fan base--they vacillate from angry at their own to angry at the world faster than any group I've ever seen.
