That said, his team, which had been Number One eleven days previously, lost 9-7 to Darrell Royal's first UT team. The game was nationally-televised in black and white, and I remember Coach Royal running off Kyle Field faster than his players.

Bear Bryant had gotten the Aggies to their lofty position by cheating like a son-of-a-***** and left shortly thereafter for Mama Alabama. The Aggies were put on probation and didn't play against Jim Brown and Syracuse in the Cotton Bowl.

I'd been taking **** from my fellow fifth grade Aggies since the previous year. Texas would not lose again to the Aggies until I was a junior at UT.
