Aggie jealousy

And, like clockwork, TexAgs has deleted the thread. If there's one thing they can't handle over there, it's the truth.

No, no, no-say it ain't so. That thread was a classic. A fine whine is meant to be savored, kept in storage for special occasions. How could they delete such entertaining insights into the aggy mindset. I'm crushed.

You guys are starting to hurt my feelings. I first posted the jealousy thing, but in it I stated that I had a son that is an A&M graduate (also one that is UT, one SWT by the way). I don't intend to condemn the school because I to think it is a good one, but pretty much just the posters on that thread. There are wacko's everywhere, but it just seems that Texags is overpopulated with them.

It is because the whole nation was dying to see Texas A&M versus TCU and SMU.

Their stature during the 80s seems to be alot higher in retrospect to some of them than it was at the time. As I recall they spent most of the 80s and the early 90s whining they were not getting the respect they deserved and wanted to be mentioned along with the Notre Dames, Miamis, Florida States, and Oklahomas. I remember they were all pumped that the Aggies would finally prove themselves against Florida State in the 1992 Cotton Bowl...whoops.

Oh well they will always have the 1986 and 1988 Cotton Bowls.

Wow. I am at a loss for words on that one.

"A&M football was ESPN's first real breakthrough hit."

Is that guy serious?

Along with Cliff's great quote is this by Mike Cotten which I saw in the 1962 Cactus: "The Aggies were made to get the hell beat out them".

that Mike Cotten quote belongs with the others that get posted every day on this board, it is an instant classic

well, it would be an "instant classic" if it wasn't almost 50 years old.....non the less, a quality quote from a great Longhorn

I'm sorry, but I dont get the upside down horns they have all over their vehicles. I would want people to know that I am a UT fan, not a hater of another school. They spend far to much time worrying about UT when they need to worry and take care of their own business. I dont want to get in my car every morning and be reminded of someone elses school.

TexAgs is absolutely fascinating entertainment. They never fail to deliver. That's why there are so many Longhorn fans over there.

Strong engineering and vet programs i know

everything else falls under the mediocre category, but solid teachers and such, not much national recognition outside those schools though

Don't look now, but the overall athletic program has probably passes us when you consider both women and men's programs.

They have passes us in both women and men's track and field as well as other sports. The T & F recruiting this year means we will not catch them for a while. The are coming on in all sports. Don't write them off so easily.

No. They are coming on in chick sports and one or two male spring sports. They are behind Texas (horribly behind in the case of football) in the 3 sports that matter above all others.

And their athletic department is apparently on the verge of bankruptcy. As football continues to suck and they continue to lose money from it, they will no longer be able to afford the coaches Byrne has hired in track and field, women's basketball, etc., or the extravagant facilities they keep building.

Aggy is doing a good job in the minor sports that few people care about.

I really think that is key; the less Aggy involvment, the more normal folks over there can actually do very well. They're likely to be the biggest school in the state before long. Fortunately their hearts generally exceed their brains in football.

They are clamoring to be the biggest school in America. I read the other day that their acceptance rate is 76%. That is embarrassing for a school that is supposed to be one of the top public schools in the nation. The standard Aggy explanation for it is that they're trying to top 50,000 enrollment because they think it will gain them more national respect. I would guess they also want to churn out a larger alumni base.
