Adoption Woes

We are about 1.5 years into the process of adopting a baby girl from China. Originally we thought we would have our daughter by this coming summer, but over the past year the process, for reasons I won't get into, has slowed to a snails pace. It now looks like it could be another 4-5 years of waiting.
We are both around 40 +/-, no kids, and this is becoming more and more difficult mentally and emotionally. If we knew for sure that in 4 years we would have a baby I think I could live with that, but I'm scared of waiting another 2-3 years and then having the process shut down completely.
We already have a lot of time and money invested, so don't want to quit either. My wife alreay has a nursery made, including a pillow with our future daughter's name embroidered.

Sorry to hear this. My wife's sister and her husband are in the process of adopting a child from Kazakhstan, and it seems like things are moving pretty quickly. Would you be willing to look to other countries? Regardless, my thoughts are with you.
