Addams Family or the Munsters?

Addams Family and it wasn't even close. Show was much more creative and innovative. Munsters was just kind of stupid. And Morticia is smoking hot.

I think the characters in The Addams Family were better and more "interesting." However, I did meet Fred Gwynn (Herman Munster) and he was such a nice man. Very friendly and gracious.

After one day of debate it's Addams Family with a slight 14-12 lead. Margin of error +/- 5%.

Munsters all the way when I was a kid and they were on first run. We watched the Addams Family only because nothing else was on at the time. I liked them, just not as much as Munsters.

As someone above noted, as well, Fred Gwynn was a great guy. He also wrote childrens books, notably Chocolate Moose For Dessert and the King Who Rained. Great books if you are an elementary language arts teacher!

Put me in the Addams Family camp. We eagerly looked forward to each new episode of TAF, but we watched The Munsters only because it was on. With three network affiliates and an independent, it's not like we had a lot of choice.

I liked TAF because the characters seemed more real, even though they were goth. And although TAF was based on a real comic strip (ran in the New Yorker, I believe), the Munsters seemed to be more cartoonish.

Gomez Addams was esoteric and debonaire, while Fred Munster was a buffoon.

But no one can deny the greatness that was Grandpa Munster. To me, he was the best reason to watch that show.

So what's the score, now?

My vote for Munsters. I think as a kid the Munsters were more entertaining. I watch AF occassionally and I think the humor is a little more adult oriented.

I was a kid, well 12, when they first came on too, and for me is is TAF by a long shot. I liked the Munsters too but the Addams family was much better. Here is a good utube for TAD with the opening theme music at the end. Wow, the good ole days. The Link

Addams Family gets my vote. The Munsters though good was more of a kids show. However, give the Munsters bonus points for reuniting the two male leads who starred in the early police comedy Car 54.

What's the score now?

What you might not know is that little Wednesday Addams -- Lisa Loring -- turned to porn when her career went south in the 80s. That's when she was introduced to drugs, and she became addicted. She has since turned her life around and now apparently works in public relations.
