Addams Family or the Munsters?

Addams and Morticia. At least that was my favorite when I was a kid. The Munsters never worked for me. Nobody was as fun as Gomez.
 
Without a doubt, The Addams Family. Without further doubt, Morticia. CARA MIA!!! Goth hot.
 
It seems to me that the Munsters were more like a living cartoon and the Addams Family was just weird. Either way, I think both shows had a great premise and were highly entertaining. Too bad most current tv can't hold a candle to this kind of creativity.
 
Addams Family...and in the words of 1560's "SEC Guy"..."NEHXT! We all know that the Addams have a better pedigree coming from the literary world and that the Munsters was nuthin but johnny-come-lately, carpet baggin, TV created scally-wags!!! Get that riff-raff outta here!!"

As someone who was a kid in the 60's when both shows were actually first-run, you really looked forward to The Munsters and you watched The Addams Family because you had only 3 channels.

I'm not sure I know anyone who preferred TAF over TM back in the day.

Of course, I was a child, and The Munsters was more cartoony with Herman's feats of strength and the "normal people" freak outs when they met the family. The Addams Family was much slower paced and droll, which might lend to adults (whether watching in the 60's or viewing reruns) to prefer it.

I would still much rather catch a Munsters episode on cable, hoping I see Herman playing for the Dodgers or drag racing that sweet modified hearse.
 
I think it's The Munsters in a landslide as well. I would say that Morticia has a little more hotty-appeal than Lilly. I was a kid when I watched these as re-runs, but I agree with what another poster said - I WANTED to watch The Munsters. I only watched The Addams Family when nothing else was on.
 
loved them both, but The Munsters for me.

Grandpa Munster was a hoot, then he apparently became a big time basketball talent scout...who would have known.

I'll even it up: Munsters.

As the above posters mention, as a child growing up with the limited options of no cable tv, the munsters was always entertaining in a ridiculous but funny way. Adams was more quirky but slower paced.

As an adult though, I would probably choose AF as I recall a darker humor compared to Munsters, but I didn't catch those as a kid.
 
Not only did I far prefer the Addams Family, my wife has a cousin who resembles Gomez fairly closely, and is always reminded of this fact.
Munsters was OK, but kinda silly, more for kids. Not the intellectual powerhouse that defined Addams Family. OK, it was weirder, and I liked that. Nothing has changed since then.
