Aaron Green

I wonder what his timetable is to make a decision. It seems to me that if I was in his shoes with no prior ties to any university, it would be hard not to turn down Nebraska because they need a running back yesterday. He would definitely be the man from day one. The issue for this caliber of recruits is what situation will get me to the NFL.

It would seem to be hard for Texas to match it. Not that Mack needs any advice from me regarding recruiting, but he can point to Reggie Bush being drafted high even though he shared carries with LenDale White. Also, having Garrett Gilbert as your QB and all the lineman recruited will open up some holes. I would also point out other RB tandems like McFadden/Felix Jones of Arkansas and Cadilllac Williams/Ronnie Brown of Auburn that got drafted. Also, the trump card Mack has over anyone is that this is a top 10 program thats just an hour drive up 35 from your home.

I won't lose sleep but I hope we get him. The offense will be illegal in 48 states and Canada with GG and this years recievers and Malcolm Brown paired with Aaron Green.

Wish he was announcing at halftime tonight.
That way I would know whether I should be pulling for him in the 2nd half.

Plus, it woulda been really sweet if both guys busted out on national TV AND they were both future Horns.

Wonder if Green made it to Lincoln?

If so, he saw a Nebraska team that could really use his services.

If so, he saw a Texas team that could really use his services.

I don't guess Texas' win could hurt their chances any.

Maybe he would like to play with the winners? UT is going to be on the right side of the scoreboard a bunch of times in the next four years and he could be a big part of it.

I just can't see him wanting to go play for Nebraska when he is at home and playing for a winner here in Texas.

So, what is the latest with Green (other than him being at the game)? I have heard conflicting information. Are we still pushing him hard? Are we still in his top list of schools?

We should go after him. A good safety valve receiver in the flats a la Reggie Bush for the Saints, we no gots.

Another thing about "big" backs. Is it genes or just some kid who likes to eat a lot (and will therefore get too big to be an RB). Seems like we tend to get the eaters. Not an issue with Green. Then you let the chips fall where they may between Green and Brown and either way we kick ***. Also, maybe we can use them both. Stud back A gets winded after a 30 yard run, go to Stud back B.

Even though he lists his interest in UT as "High" he has yet to make a visit. He has visited Nebraska. Florida State, and Cal.

Green has been to several camps at UT. I wouldn't sweat him not making "an official" visit this year to mean anything. Besides, he already has an offer and you know Mack's rules about offers. Not until you've made a visit. So take that for what its worth.

And if Green goes elsewhere I wish him well and we'll be OK. There is always J. Gray in 2012.

I have this hunch Green will wind up a very special Sunday kind of player someday so I hope we get him. Something about the way he carries himself.

(But then what do I know?)

"Given the magnitude of the cluster in Austin, it'd be hard to blame him much. If I were he, I'd be looking at the weekly quote from the OC about trying to figure out how to get DJ Monroe in the game, and that'd be all I'd need to know about my future in an Orange uniform.

Worse, unless something finally starts working, there's plenty of reason, and still time, for Brown to join him, too - or at least head in a different direction... "I know I said I'm coming to Texas, but you said you were going to run the ball... I'm pretty sure we both used the word 'committed', and you put the 'de-' in front of it first."

Give me a break. If kids run from adversity we don't want them. Kids we recruit are more mature than most of our fans. They know what adversity is.

When recently asked, Brown re-affirmed he is committed. Attitudes like yours are carrying the negatives a little far. You think Florida's class is bailing on them right now?

btw, we have not been hot after Green in a while. He may choose us (I doubt it) but he seems to have been a Neb lean for along time. You think our whipping Nub and completely shutting down their running game in their "game of the decade" changed his mind??Geeez.

I'd feel a lot better if you said it was you opinion before all that stuff.

Have you ever been recruited or had a child recruited? Just curious. Most kids are not so fickle they run from a few losses. They look at the whole picture. You obviously think we are in the tank for years to come. I happen to disagree. Just my opinion.
