AAFL to fold

That's too bad -- it seemed like a good idea ... although I lost a lot of interest when so few Longhorns were chosen for the Texas team.
 
I thought I heard that they are not folding but delaying the start until next year to give them time to raise more money.

I hope not. I like the way they have set everything up. They aren't trying to create a NFL competitor. They are trying to set up a league where players who are good, but not good enough to play at the highest level can play. I like how they have placed a regional influence on it.

I think it will work.
 
i loved the idea, but i'm still wondering how they will continue to make the regional player thing work over multiple seasons. that is the only way this thing stays afloat.
 
This was a stupid rinky-dink idea to begin with. I am not suprised that the whole house of cards is falling down.
 
Imo most people don't want to watch pro sports being played by players who aren't quite good enough for the best league. I don't see a gap for them to exploit.
 
They haven't folded, but have officially delayed their first season until 2009. For those of us that were looking forward to this, this blows.

For everyone who poo pooed the idea, congradulation, your negative vibe(along with a blistering credit crunch) has taken a litte joy out of life. I could blame the market but it is more fun to blame you.

Baseball has the minor leagues, football has the Arena League. In either case, an additional competiting minor league is going to have a lot of trouble.
