It's kinda against Hornfans policy to cut and paste entire articles from paysites, so I just showed the kids who listed an interest in Texas. None of the others did, although I'm sure some do on other sites.

It was stunning to me to see as little interest shown by the top half of the top 55 in UT. For over a decade, half or more of them would at least list an interest in the Horns.

Which is why I said "That's it, folks."

The rebuild is gonna take awhile.

CS has a long way to go making UT the choice destination with Texas high school players. The last coaching staff left little momentum. A string of poor seasons (terrible QB play) and limited media exposure caused by the LHN have changed things quickly.
Combine this with RGIII and Manzel helping rivals, our team has fallen behind. Luckliy a change was made this year so a recovery can begin.

How has the LHN been a positive for recruiting? I see aTm on tv every week, Texas not so much. And I'm sure recruits see the same thing.

^^^What Aces said. The LHN has stifled UT exposure to the vast majority of fans.

LHN has made UT football and basketball less relevant with high school players in the Houston area. My sons are in this age group.

Early season games are not on, while other Big 12 and SEC teams are on. No coaches shows. No spring game. The presser after signing day was not available except on LHN.

Current recruits to do not remember VY or even Colt.

Winning will solve the problem more than additional clearance for the LHN, but it is obvious that lack of TV exposure is hurting the standing with recruits.

Having your own ESPN LHN is a HUGE advantage folks. Patterson and company will continue to expand and leverage. With Time Warner,, AT&tT, Verizon FIOS, Grande, Charter and Google Fiber all carrying it now, the coverage across this state is pretty damn good and getting better. Add Comcast and Direct TV or Dish and the discussion on coverage is over. It will be ubiquitous. Considering the LHN launched only 2 1/2 years ago and the progress is amazing compared to most networks.

Texas currently has 4 of the Fab 55 despite all of the changes and is in the running for many more. Getting kids to come to Austin won't be a problem for Charlie Strong and the LHN will be a huge asset.

Even if LHN is picked up more widely, I doubt many HS kids will think of channel surfing over tot the Texas network to see how we're doing. They'll go to ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and ESPN. Even though it's a part of ESPN it's not a gimme to get HS kids to flip there.

The more games get moved to LHN the more detrimental it will be.

It's obvious, now, we are no longer going to get the better recruits because "we are texas". Sumlin appears to be a top notch recruiter. Our only salvation is wins. And i think we can accomplish these wins because the big 12 is a little weak. I remember when we use to get 5 or 6 out of the top ten. CS will have his work cut out for him.

And I'll add that unless we have an unexpected dramatic turnaround the four LHN games are wins with the others probably splitting 4-4 so the only thing these recruits see is their perception of an average .500 team.

Meanwhile our competition is on a major network every week and has the swag copter flying around while we hire Disney. It's pretty easy for opposing recruiters to say we have our priorities all screwed up and unless CS is very convincing (which he may be) he'll lose many battles to get those good ones.

Someone please tell me how LHN helps with recruiting, if our target is from a non-UT family, many of whom do not have the LHN.

We have it because we are all alums.

But, last year we did not and as a result I did not see any of the first 10 basketball games. By then, I had no knowledge nor ownership of the players or team.

The LHN is most helpful to UT's opponents. Aggy, OU, and others are very well pleased that the Horns have elected to retreat into a black hole of exposure. Anyone who can't see this result is just kidding himself.

NOT on Brown. Brown and his staff recruited the present team save for 6 recruits and there is plenty of talent available for the next two years. Running backs, Brown, Bergeron, Gray and Catalon ? Lets see if we replace those guys in the next two years. Ol, DL, DBs etc. We are loaded with talent. QB may be the only weak spot and that problem goes away with a healthy Ash and a redshirt year by Heard. Better hope our recruiting gets a lot better in the next two years. Oh yeah, the 2014 recruiting class would have been allot better if the present staff could have held on to the commits Brown had.
Strong and his staff will be responsible for the recruiting in 2015 and 2016, not Brown. His performance in recruiting remains to be seen for 2015 and 2016.
Strong can help himself by winning.
We will see.

Maybe UT could schedule several games to be played at Area 51 to continue the journey into obscurity.

The 2-3 games that are carried on the LHN each year would not have been carried on any major network in the first place. So nobody other than UT fans would have watched anyway.

As for A&M being on TV every Saturday, that is simply ludicrous. Which of their 4 non-conference games do you expect to be televised.

2015 looks like an Aggie locomotive charging down the tracks and stopping for no one. All I can say about Aggie is that it was the JFF show. That kid put them on the map in social circles. IT had ESPN talking nothing but JFF during the off season. Without that kid at the helm... the Aggies lose like 6 more games over the two seasons he was there. Momentum from the Heisman is carrying this team right now. The Aggies have to win and win often because that Heisman afterglow will diminish and they could slip into the middle pack of the SEC with an occasional victory over the top teams.

I doubt the haul for 2015 will be strong unless Texas wins this year. If the Aggies stumble out of the blocks, they can still stand tall but if mediocrity continues into 2016 then the balance can shift. There are so many good players in the state, I don't see why both programs can not flourish if they both have winning programs. The Aggies recruiting success as of late does not signify a Texas collapse... Winning cures all.

Loaded with talent, maybe if current coaches can bring it out. DE, DT are weak spots . And OL is also hurting as for as depth. Brown did not leave the program as well as he took it over.

Our expectation should be that the 2015 recruiting will be outstanding and a top 10 recruiting class. That is why we are paying a lot of money to the head coach. Recruiting is a big part of his job. No excuses.

PPV picked up virtually 100% of games not on major networks, no matter the opponent. I was more than willing to pay for PPV at any time. I want to see every game. No longer is that possible. LHN cheerleaders fail to see the big picture.

Rivals Texas team recruiting classes:

2010 Rank #3 25 recruits, 19 four star, 2 five star
2011 Rank #3 22 recruits, 15 four star, 1 five star
2012 Rank #2 28 recruits, 15 four star, 2 five star
2013 Rank #24 15 recruits, 9 four star.
2013 was limited on number of recruiting spots available and still got 9 out of 15 four stars.

Do players crap out and not live up to expectations? Sure they do.

Brown recruited and signed talent and a lot of that talent is still on this team.
