A trillion in new taxes only on 'the wealthiest'?

Cut back all the new spending that he created to begin with. That would be a great first step of a leader. Admit your mistakes and fix them. Look, taxes are going up regardless. Obamacare is coming and the Bush Tax cuts are set to expire, so tax increases will happen by leaving the tax code alone. Why in the world did Obama extend the Bush Tax cuts if more revenue was available from increased taxes? Makes no sense. Cut your mistakes first, then we can move forward.
 
If they were unwilling to negotiate, they wouldn't go to the meetings. Just because they won't take Obama's offer doesn't mean they won't negotiate. Obama just hasn't made the right offer/twisted the right arm.
 
You don't get to raise my taxes until you can learn to spend with way way less.

Our gvt needs to learn FIRST how to spend less and ONLY THEN should we even begin to think about sending them more $$ thru higher taxes.

Every single gvt program should be cut by 10-20% ACROSS THE BOARD CUTS are what is needed right now. If our gvt leaders were CEO's and high level execs WE the stockholders would have fired their no good asses long long ago and hired new management to help save our company from going under!

That's what the revenue debate is about." ?

Who gets to decide what anyone " needs"?
 
Poor Obama, too bad he forgot about that debt reduction program. Every dollar he sends to the treasury is a dollar we don't have to borrow. Sucks for him.
 
ABDid you read his speech? In addition to parroting marx's favorite line he said this
" We're not out here trying to use this as a means of doing all these really tough political things. I'd rather be talking about stuff that everybody welcomes -- like new programs or the NFL season getting resolved."

Yawn. Are you really trying to bait me when you just posted that pathetic quote as substitute for any tangible accomplishments by Obama. Keep drinking the Kool-aid. One day when you have a pile of Monopoly money in the bank perhaps you can post a quote from Obama about the virtues of fiat currency.
 
I think both parties are to blame in this whole mess we are in today, but I also think you should not be raising taxes. You don't need to raise taxes just get rid of all the loopholes in the tax code and that alone will raise revenue. Also, you should get rid of all these tax credits. This year I paid in and got all I paid in back plus almost three times the amount over what I paid--that is your problem. I am also a middle class earner, at least I think I am.
