Your right, this new DC obviously does not have the respect of his players. Otherwise no one would take their eyes of him anytime on the sideline if he is speaking. I say we fire the coach and kick Muck off the team.
Lets see, first game, bucketload of defensive guys in their first college game or start, and the defense allows 10 points. Let's just mail it in...we are doomed. No significant TFL's or sacks, players looking away during instruction (even though it might have nothing to do with the party in question) what's the use in showing up next week?
M-A-K-O-V-I-C, say it with me. Even aggy fired his DC after one year for Godsakes....now does last night really seem so bad?
If low TFL count after the first game of the season is your major concern, count your blessings and move on.
He cringed at the site of blood that was pouring down his face! We're not talking just a lil dab, but it was a streamline! Nothing bothers this man! NOTHING!! His FOCUS is on the game at hand, not some cut by his headset. He'll get to that later.....
For the first game with a new DC, a lot of young players, and several first-time starters, I'm not unhappy at all. If we're playing that way against Colorado, I'll be much more concerned. I expect a lot of improvement next week and again against Ark. This young defense has a long way to go, but they look to be on their way - not there yet, but on their way.
For anyone not convinced that pressure on the QB is about a lot more than TFLs and sacks - in the 2005 RRS both Texas and OU recorded the same number of sacks. I'll let you decide if you think that means both quarterbacks were equally pestered.
