Could be the only team playing there ...???

To any California or Yankee transplants, YES, such a high school team does exist, and they are quite proud of their agricultural heritage. Their head baseball coach, Elias Vasquez, Jr.:

The Cottonpickers have a very nice stadium of their own right adjacent to the high school

They are very proud of their name, unlike those of us from Beeville, whose teams are named after a popular, inexpensive but fairly effective condom.

Have they built a new one recently? When I was there with my son about 5 years ago for a baseball tournament, it was kind of a dump.

As Daniel Webster allegedly said of Dartmouth, “it is small, sir, but there are those of us who love it”

lots of excellent baseball has been played there

It is windy and real cool down here and was raining a bit earlier today. Perfect weather for baseball.
44 degrees at 3:40

The camera work is horrible. The plays at first and they switch to the camera showing Ardoin walking across the plate. Faltine was safe, but I have no idea how since I didn't get to see it and it looked like it shoulda been a routine play.

Yea, that was a routine play when I was in little league. Now another error and bases loaded. Texas trying to blow this one.

Damn, now tied. I think all their runs are unearned. Are we sure that isn't the softball team in disguise?

Ugggh.

Rough 5th inning with a big error on what should have been an easy infield catch, and a two run double. Put some of it on Gordon, but mostly not…

4-4

Light up those bats boys!

Enter Blair, our transfer P from Winthrop. He did well against Rice. Need to shut them out from runs in the sixth through ninth.

Go Horns!!!

Luke Harrison on the mound. He looked sharp bs Rice. Need some more scoreless innings pitched here.

Nice work by Luke Harrison. Scoreless 7th inning. The ump may have given him some calls on a few pretty low looking strikes. Ump is cold and wants to go home…

Woah!

We’re bringing in the big gun to close it out. Nixon.

Harrison gave us a couple of good innings. He’s looking like a keeper.
