a loop hole for illegals

Major: who said anything about big corporations? Nobody I know thinks DuPont or Exxon is hiring jillions of illegals. Construction companies and hotels and the rest of the tourist industry do by the bucketful. And how is a company to know its employees are illegal? One easy way is to know that the employers are the ones who direct the new employee to the guy who will get the documents for them. And pay for the documents.

I will accept your assertion that lots of them are taking advantage of the welfare system, but the fact is that most of the ones I see are working. I know one restaurant here in CC where none of the waitresses even attempt to speak english and don't understand it if you try it on them. I go there just to knock the rust off my spanish. They are very obliging.

Same with the hotel and tourist joints here in CC. When the maid comes in to clear your sheets, try to carry on a conversation with her in English.

The fact is that whole industries are allowed to hire cheap labor that can't complain about anything and there is no downside for the employers. None.

The millions of cheap laborers drive down the wage scale for everybody else at the bottom.

I worked my way through UT forty plus years ago doing the work these people do now: working in slaughterhouses and ranches and construction. Take a look at how many white college kids get those jobs now.

Arrest a few employers, the others get rid of the illegals and hire Americans at higher wages. Reagan said the best safety net was a job. Right. The wage rates are undermined by the illegals.

You are dead on about the dems undermining things for the bottom rung of employees. You might have mentioned that it was Clinton who shoved NAFTA through, which shipped hundreds of thousands of bottom rung industrial manufacturing jobs to China/Walmart and other tyrannies. And the labor unions, who opposed NAFTA, proceeded to pay him back by turning out their voters for him once again.

Huis:

You ask who keeps blaming the Corporation, you do over and over, see your post above and on, I think 8/18.. When you say employer, how do you not get that they are not in the policing business? When it take the Feds 6-18 months to come back to them and tell them an ID and SS number are fake what are they to do?

When someone shows a DL and a SS card they cannot be refused the right to work, that is law. If it is fake it takes the FEDs 6-18 months to come back to them, and you want to start penalizing and arresting the Employers. In your world they are dammed if they do or dammed if they don't. This goes for employers of all size including your local Chili's that is owned by Brinkers.

STOP the illegal from physically getting in the country, solves a ton of problems.

Mr. Deez, I truly do not think thousand and thousands of troops are necessary around the world anymore. We may not get those bases back, but who in the hell needs them? With the changing of the military to Drones, air power, naval power, the conventional troop is really nothing but a target or an occupying force.

If we ever get in a scuffle with Germany or Japan again, I would be utterly shocked. I am sure things can change but I don't believe those bases at the size they are now is worth it.

Just my opinion, Mr. Deez.

aps: please be advised that most illegals get their docs through the employers, so the employers don't have to wait a year. And there is no law saying you have to hire anybody that shows up with a DL or SS#.

I used to do hiring for a grocery store many years ago and it was pretty easy to identify who was from Mexico. If you wanted to.

The idea that the poor employer is just stuck with anybody who shows up with documents is rationalization, pure and simple.

And I never suggested in my previous post that it was large corporations doing the illegal hiring. It is thousands of construction companies, hotels, parking garages, building maintenance companies, etc.

Parking troops on the border is way too expensive, wont be effective and would end up with a goodly number of dead goatherders. And lots of soldiers getting involved in smuggling operations.

MH,

Yes, I was referring to the Reaper. Nevertheless, even if the Global Hawk was configured to carry weapons (which it apparently does not at this time), it still couldn't strike the Middle East from the US and return. (If it flew from Incrlik, Turkey or even Ramstein, it could.)

until the drones are able to distinguish between the Taliban's number one badass in Badassistan and the wedding party for Rashid and Fatima, I think they should be limited in use.

As of now they look to be another in a long line of super weapons that our technology freaks keep developing that do more harm than good. I know the argument that killing with drones is better than sending our soldiers in harm's way but if you can't distinguish between warriors and wedding parties any better than these POS, then maybe the better alternative is to quit sending our soldiers in harms way with the world's best weapons against guys who keep figuring out neat ways to narrow the effectiveness of such weapons.

And does anybody besides me tire of reading about how we knocked off some eminently replacable ahole terrorist only to find out in the back pages a few weeks later that it wasn't the ahole but rather yet another set of newlyweds?

As far as I know, the drones don't decide anything. The drones get their input through the pilot and sensor operator that operate the drones. These two individuals get their input from analysis that are looking at the live video feed and determine which targets to launch on.

The reason I know this information is because I have been to the three bases that have this mission design system (MDS) and I was given a tour on how they operate. I had to know this information because I taught the new sensor operators how to be an aircrew member in the Air Force. Yea me!
