A Different Take... Stay the Course and Press On

The older I get, the easier it is to follow this advice. And on the other hand, I have less patience with the young'uns who can't follow it and feel that they must use social media to spew their frustrations to the world.

AMEN Sangre! The new generation remembers VY and Co and thinks every year should be 2005. I remember 84’ through 97’ and that was 19 seasons of average to bad football. 90’ and 95’ were the only good years in that span.

I remember '84 through '97 which is why I see this staff regressing and not being the one that will take Texas where we fans expect Texas to be, amongst the elite.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but this seems like McWilliams or Mackovick and it will take suffering through more of Herman's inane in-game decisions, crappy tackling, etc., before Texas gets its man.

Point is if it regresses next year after this regression in 19’, likely that Texas moves on. If I knew the future I would own New Zealand by now or some Island like that. I would think by year 4 we would have a very good idea. I still think/ hope we can get 8-9 wins this year. TH earned a 4th year already. IMHO. I know some disagree. Be careful what you wish for!

Defenses adjust, it’s that simple. The problem is that Herman/Beck apparently aren’t understanding that.
I've said it before, I know next to nothing about the nuts and bolts of football. However, even I could see that ISU was selling out to stop the run. I was pissed when we tried to run on first down. I lost it completely when we did it again on second down. My wife was ready to evacuate the house for a safer location.

A flea-flicker on 1st or 2nd down would have killed ISU. They were sure Herman would run the ball. Any play action pass may have worked just as well.

They have to make some changes....any kind of changes....
One play vs ISU we have trips or twins...I think it was a trips set.... to our right side. ISU had FOUR ...FOUR defenders out on that set. Any hitch pass to that set was doomed...We surely had them outnumbered elsewhere.....BUT..What does Sam do? He throws the hitch and they kill the play in its tracks. WTH ????? Even if the play was called from the sideline, as a QB, you HAVE to change the play.

Man, those are my two biggest what the?... from that game. I just do not think Sam has the option to change play cause if he does he must have been under concussion mode to go ahead with that play.

Not unlike the "18 Wheeler" package. It started out brutally unstoppable. It became brutally ineffective.
Same with the Belldozer. Defenses start to submarine the play knowing what is coming. If they had to play up to defend against a pass once in awhile out of that set, it would still work. But we never ever pass out of that set.

There are a least 10 games in the Herman era that he "should have won". The best part about Tom Herman his that every game is competitive and close. Unfortunately, he is usually on the wrong side of the close games.
I'd disagree with that. We won way more last year than we lost on close games. This year it's 50/50.

Graduated in 82 so not a youngster. Older I get less patience I get. Mainly because I know I'm down to a couple of decades so being lost in the wilderness for another decade is just not acceptable. I can't wait for another day forever, because we don't get forever.
