that Saturday's game to be cancelled. Just heard it reported on 1530 and talked to an insider as well about it. Looks like it would be pplayed on ACL fest weekend....wish I was in the hotel business that weekend!

That is a horrible, horrible idea. ACL and one of our biggest home games of the season on the same freakin' weekend?!

Can't we just cancel Rice and play Arkie next week?

Only makes sense to cancel the game .... who the heck wants to watch a football game during tropical force winds anyway?? Just wish Belmont (i.e. Deloss) would hurry up and make the "official" announcement. Smart to book your hotel reservations now for the weekend of 9-27. I'm in Clear Lake and they are already calling for voluntary evacuations here ....

So stupid. Katrina has turned everyone into nervous nellies. There aren't any freakin tattered levees on our coast. Play the damn game, its just gonna be some wind and rain.

Yes .... I have already made reservations for that weekend at a (nice, reasonably priced) hotel .... there are still plenty of rooms available out there .....

Am I the only one who thinks this cancelation talk is just way too pre mature?
There is no way to know if there is a 90% chance to change the game, unless there is a 90% certainty that the weather conditions in Austin would make the game unplayable.

To the poster that asked, who wants to watch a game in strong winds and heavy rain? I do. I want to watch it, and I don't mind sitting in it either. That is football weather. Any BAD weather is football weather. The only reasons to cancel the game should be high winds that make the stands unsafe, or lightning. Other than those reasons... GAME ON!

would venture to say that most (if not all) of the women would disagree with you .... and what makes you think we won't have "high winds"?? I thought that's what tropical force winds were??

You might be losing sight of the bigger picture here. Even if the hurricane does not come straight on to Austin, we are a major destination for evacuees from the coast who need a place to ride out the storm. That is going to be true whenever the hurricane hits on the Texas coast.

Looks like only time will tell on WHERE it is going to hit, but the timing couldn't be worse.

I have a plane ticket for the weekend of September 27th to go to Minneapolis to see the band James. They are one of my all-time favorites, and they haven't been to America in over 10 years. I have NEVER seen them live.

If our game is rescheduled to the 27th, I will be in Austin rooting on the Horns. Sorry, James.
