72 Dolphins have me rooting for New England

New England never had the opportunity to take advantage of the films they obtained. They filmed the Jets' handsignals during the first half and the plan was the observe and take notes at halftime and they'd see the benefits in the 2nd half. The film was confiscated at the half so the coaches never actually saw what was on it. Were they attempting to use this? Yes, and they were punished accordingly. But to act as if they actually gained an advantage off this is over the top. That's why it's comparable to Miami tampering with a team in order to steal their coach.

And besides, if you knew about the whole history with Mangini and Belichick, you'd know that Mangini is just as dirty and even if NE had the opportunity to benefit from those films, he would have deserved it because he brought it on himself. He is as unethical as people think Belichick is. The only difference is that Mangini is apparently supposed to be taken pity on because he coaches for the poor ole Jets.

Also, it's common knowledge that teams try to steal the other's signals. The Patriots just found a better way to do it.

in the pros, money talks, and their actions had no affect on the integrity of the game action, unlike the spying activities of the Pats (at least their intent was to do this).

so to equalize the two improprieties does not wash and to call the Fish cheaters is a big stretch. They never tried to steal signals did they? Pats are much much worse. Besides they should have lost to Baltimore anyway.

yes, list all the 72 Dolphin games they should have lost because an opposing coach called an ill timed timeout when the players stopped the Fish on 4th down.

Miami is not my fav team and I really don't care that much about this perfect record thing but to diminish them by some lame coaching hire argument is an act of desperation and very unnecessary which actually reduces other more viable arguments.

The best football team I ever saw was the 89 niners.

the Pats intended to cheat on the field during the course of a game, which is a much more serious offense than trying to hire away a good coach as this affects the integrity of the game itself during live action. To paint the Fins as cheaters in the same class as the Pats is not correct.

I think the Giants win tomorrow so all this should be water under the dam.

As far as I'm concerned, the Patriots have shown themselves to be a win-at-all-cost bunch, and I can only assume they have been cheating for years.

Regardless, the Dolphins ran the table. That speaks volumes to me. I don't care if the Patriots are "better" or that the Dolphins "should have lost". They didn't, and the best the Patriots can do is equal that achievment in my mind. And if they do so, I'll always view their title with suspicion, because they are proven cheaters.

That having been said, I really don't care about the NFL, but I'll be rooting for the Giants tonight. I hope it's a good game.

Washington may have lost because they went with Billy Kilmer instead of Sonny Jurgenson because George Allen felt that Kilmer was a winner. This in spite of the fact that Vince Lombardi called Sonny the best passer he ever saw. Too bad Vince passed away before he could led Washington to the Super Bowl.

Wow, slugga, you sure do seem to have done a lot of research into why one should hate the Fins. I'm not so sure I can see why one should root for the Pats to shut of the old men when I would have to listen to a young one like you.

Grumpy old men over cheating young men anyday.

The '72 Dolphins set the standard for single season perfection. Every other team tries to match the Dolphin gold standard. Don't hate, appreciate!

Well, I'm still annoyed by the fins' arrogance, but I was as excited as anyone when Manning threw the TD. Just a great game, really a joy to watch a championship matchup that actually provides some drama.
