a couple of first thoughts. bozo I drove a 2002 VW Passat 1.8T. Amazingly great car until my wife wrecked it into the side of a mountain in Mexico at about 80 miles an hour. Oh yea, and to think she was unharmed and I had a small cut above my eye where my sunglasses hit the B pillar. Not a bad car in my book for the safety alone. The handling was superb.
LL, the 95 Explorer didn't pollute any worse than any other car at the time. It met all emissions standards and didn't get terrible gas milage for the time. It might have started a fuel over consumption trend with SUVs, but that is hardly the Explorers fault. That is the fault of the car buying public. More gas consumption does NOT equate to more pollution.
Ok I am editing this and going to make some more comments. The commentary about the Model T is complete crap.
I won't comment about any of the other comments made by the writer of that article. I will just say it is the worst article I have ever read written about cars. I wonder what the guys at Car and Driver or Top Gear would say about this list and the commentary.
