$20K Car

Jetta TDI... same/better (if you drive a lot of hw miles) mileage then a hybrid and will run forever. Plus you will not have to replace the expensive *** hybrid batteries every 5-7 years.

I have a Jetta and have had little to no problems with it. VW's have extreamly high repair cost as most parts have to come from Germany. If it were my sister I would go with a Honda Civic or Accord. Both are nice cars that will never leave her stranded on the side of the road at night.

I also have a Mazda3 Sedan with 2.3L motor. Great car. I don't know if Mazda still has the bumper to bumper 5yr/50k warranty that mine has but from what I know (outside of the Korean car warranties) that's pretty good nowadays (although I haven't had to use it yet).

A used Nissan Maxima. I put 325,000 miles on my last one over 10 years w/o any major problems.

I finally sold it and got another one.

I don’t know about Lexus, but I’ve been a lifelong Toyota owner. Toyota quality has gone down the shitter the past few years. Hyundai is now king of the cheap, quality car market.

I agree with buying a car that is 1-2 years old - you can get a better car and let someone else eat the depreciation.

KIAs are good cars. We are driving our second and third KIAs and we love them. No problems whatsoever. And a great warranty.

As someone who drove Hondas when they first came out with the Civic in the 70s, I can tell you that KIA and Hyundai right now are where Honda, Toyota and Nissan were 30 years ago. Quality cars with low prices that run like champs.

Toyota Corolla

Got the wife the S model for $20,000 drive out.

37 MPG, Vehicle Stability Control, cruise, floor mats, wheel upgrade, with spoiler, sunroof, and XM.
