2026 Recruiting-Football

OTF saying OL target Sam Utu of Orange, CA is down for an official visit to Texas on June 20th.

They believe the Horns lead here.

For a private school, are they really that powerful? I know ND has done it, so why not?
They lack the great football tradition, have a small school, stadium, and fan base, and are not well known nationally. They also have the stain of the death penalty.

But when it comes to average alumni wealth and donor $$$$$, they're probably pressing Harvard or U.Penn's Wharton Business School for the top spot. There's good reason why they're sometimes referred to as Southern Millionaires University.

And many would say there are also some attractive females on campus--very attractive females.

OTF wrote that Tech commitment LB Tieson Ejiawoko from Georgetown East View will officially visit Texas on June 13th.

He's had consistent communication with Coach Nansen since being offered at Junior Day last month.

My granddaughter said "thank you"

SMU's perceived alumni wealth is largely a myth. While they do have many wealthy alumni, their endowment is nowhere near Harvard (1st at ~$50Bn) or Penn (7th at ~20Bn), ranking 72nd nationally at ~2Bn. Averaging on a per donor basis doesn't materially alter the comparison (many of the private schools ranked ahead of SMU have even smaller alumni bases), nor does the argument that endowments don't necessarily reflect alumni wealth (partially true, but in that case, why haven't they contributed to the endowment?).

OL Jared Smith of Stockbridge, GA, a standout from the Under Armour camp in Atlanta this past weekend, told 247 he plans on camping with Texas this summer.

Yet Clark was able to garner commitments of $500 million in less than a week to enter the ACC, with the promise of another $500 million if necessary.

TE offer Xavier Tiller of Fairburn, GA de-commits from A&M.

He's one of the guys who committed right after the Aggies beat LSU.

I thought it was called Suspicious Money University. Dallas has rich people, but they are not very civic minded. No one would confuse them with the Bass family or any number of wealthy families from Houston. Rice has a $7.5 B endowment for comparison. Of course they spend none of it on sports.

I don't think there is anything suspicious about their money. Drive in that main loop from Mockingbird, and pay attention to the names on the buildings & schools before you exit back onto Mockingbird.

Anything familiar? Moody, Fondren, Cox, Dedman (I think they have three)

And what's funny about that last part is they played a Super Bowl at Rice Stadium. Big stadium for such a small school.

George Brown only designed and built one football stadium, and it remains the best of its era and one of the very best of all time. Find a bad seat.

Outdated? Yes
Concessions? One of the worst
Restrooms? Not as bad as the old Stanford Stadium, but not much better.

Lots of great games there, D-1, HS, NFL. Home of the most controversial play in Texas HS history (see also ViperHorn)

My daughter in law is not at all snobby.
Previous apology repeated.
However, schools have motifs/reputations that do not apply to all students/alumni.
Not ALL tcehsters are obnoxious;
Not ALL aggys are cultists;
Not ALL Bailor football players are rape artists;
Cougar Hi actually has some smart grads;
Not ALL Longhorns are arrogant.
Sorry, but the majority of smu people I've known are rather snobby. Not my intention to impune EVERY student/alum. But the instutional reputation precedes itself.

And I just learned that the Longhorn Band played at that Super Bowl.
