I agree for my own vote. In fact, I'm suspicious of politicians who seem overly friendly and charismatic, because I know it's often ********. However, I also know that in order to win (especially for a Republican to win), a candidate has to make large numbers of gullible, ignorant suburban women feel good about voting for him. If a candidate seems overly "mean," they won't feel good about voting for him, and he'll lose. That sank Bob Dole, John McCain, and Romney. Dole and McCain had the personalities of an angry Walmart greeter. Romney felt like a calculating corporate villain. Those weren't fair characterizations of them, but that's how they came across. So, of course, those women voted for the seemingly nicer Democrats who made them feel good.
One thing that Desantis has in his favour is that though he doesn't come across as nice, he's not a wuss and does come across as strong (unlike Dole, McCain, and Romney) and a protector. I think that's why Trump did better with women than many expected. Is it enough to compensate for his general crankiness? Maybe. I hope so. Either way, I'd put that smokin' hot wife of his out there more.
