2023 Portal Recruiting (Opens December 5th)

This would be a huge hit

I’d pass on Theo. Not that he’s come here, just wondering how he felt at this years Shootout after consistently talking trash about UT since HS.
Good luck kid.
Move on. I didn’t even notice him.

Right there with you. Disappointing career at this point.

Watched Ketchum's podcast today and he suggested as many as 8 of our guys could be going portal. Some of whom they had real hope to be real contributors in the near future. Maybe he's full of crap but maybe he's right.

The game isn’t quite representative anymore but I still delight in the obvious and perpetual certainty that Longhorn successes agitate the nation.

I think almost every team in college football should expect to lose anywhere from 5-10 players every year in the portal from now on. But I think every team can also add 3-5 every year. I have mixed feelings about it. From a fan standpoint, I don't want to lose a good player. As a parent, I think if a kid is unhappy he should have the freedom to leave. Also as a parent, I'd want my kid to be making the decision to transfer for the right reasons.

IT expects six to eight transfers before the bowl game, majority of those being a mutual parting of ways due to lack of playing time.

One player will be a surprise, but not someone who is irreplaceable.

Cross-posted from Coach PK thread:

It's 'bout time for the coaching staff to make the (portal) offer to LB -- K'Von "Showtime" Sherman -- he committed to New Mexico but ended up at Hutchinson Community College (grades???). Dude flashed great on HS film (although he did take occasional plays off), and has the speed and ball-hawking instincts. He got a coveted invite to the recruiting pool party. Sherman flew under the radar of the recruiting services because he was way underweight until his Senior year in high school. I don't think he'd take any plays off wearing the Burnt Orange and White.

Unless there's some sort of special rules for Community College students, all Showtime Sherman needs to do is enter the portal--I bet we'd offer him now. Grade worries aren't what they used to be on the 40 acres.
