I think Scott is a lock at 3rd base. She has the best bat of all the candidates and probably the best defender at 3rd as well. She just needs to work on the power/accuracy of her arm and getting the ball there in a timely manner without having the 1st base stretch so far but even with that Scott will definitely start at 3rd.

For those asking about Marder, it was stated here back in August that she was not on the Fall roster; so, not a recent development.
 
Extra innings did their preseason top 100 players in college softball a couple days ago and longhorns who made the list are…

#11 - Janae Jefferson
#62 - Shae O’Leary
#63 - Hailey Dolcini
#76 - Mary Iakopo

I personally believe O’Leary and Dolcini are ranked too low especially Dolcini. Her and O’Leary are both top 40 players considering what they were able to accomplish with the load they had in 2021. Elish was also named preseason big 12 pitcher of the year but I believe that’s a little bias since she took an entire year off. Dolcini will shock a lot of people this season the way she isn’t getting any recognition. Just adds fuel to the fire so softball season can’t get here soon enough :hookem::fire:
 


I saw on another tweet some of the new/transfer players wearing their correct jersey numbers as well as having their names on the back. First game in a few weeks at FGCU invitational! And I looked, at this time there is no broadcast information for that tournament.

It looks like Fgcu broadcast their home games through YouTube. I’m not sure if that will be the case for our games but that’s what they have done in the seasons prior.
 
Anyone heard anything about Sophia Simpson? She’s the only player on the roster who doesn’t have a picture and I didn’t see her in any pictures or videos on media day nor has she posted anything or pictures like the rest of the team has done.

I was thinking perhaps there was some illness related (COVID) to her photo being missing. In-person classes at Texas resumed today; the first 2 weeks of Spring classes were all conducted remotely. So, perhaps Simpson got sick during winter break or shortly after and wasn't able to attend practices, and of course the photo/media session last week.

That’s what I was kind of hoping. Not that she got sick of course but she just missed the photos and were taking them at another time. She was still on the roster so I wasn’t really worried but at the same time I was if that makes sense. Thank you for the update:hookem:

I was hoping to go to the open team practice on Friday and see. But since it's going to be in the 40's, I'm hoping they delay it. But probably not because they're going to hit the road next week for their first tournament. They'll probably cancel.

If you read that, they indicate "YouTube Live", but I think that would maybe at best be games played by FGCU and not all games in the tournament. And Texas doesn't play FGCU.

So it looks like our games in Florida are not being streamed and will be live stats only. If it’s one thing I absolutely hate is when games are not streamed! Our first weekend of play and fans can’t even watch their team play. Not to mention our first game is a top 15 matchup and all we get are stats. Fgcu literally has a YouTube channel for streams so why they aren’t doing it this season is ridiculous to me
