I guess I haven't been paying enough attention. What is the "national acclaim" that Rori is receiving? Is it awards or more like media acknowledgement? An experienced grade transfer might be the best option as someone who can come off the bench to steer the ship in order to give Rori a breather or if Rori gets into foul trouble. Not all players who enter the portal make a public declaration of their intent to transfer. Some players who enter the portal will do so privately, without any fanfare. They may initiate contact with schools to determine if there is reciprocal interest.
From looking at social media for clues about future point guard prospects, I don't detect any 2023 PGs who our coaches are actively following. Up until Ashley's departure, a 2023 PG (likely) wasn't a top priority.
For 2024, Jaloni Cambridge is a 5'6" PG from Tennessee who is rated as the #2 recruit in the nation by ESPN Hoopgurlz. Cambridge is followed by Coach AP, Coach McEntire and Coach Dee on IG and Twitter. Our coaches have liked recent posts by Jaloni so she seems to be on our radar. Jaloni only follows Coach McEntire on IG.
For 2025, to no one's surprise, Aaliyah Chavez, the 5-9 PG from Lubbock is on our coaches' social media radar. Chavez also follows our coaches. Although it's early, Chavez is currently listed as a top 5 recruit on ESPN Hoopgurlz.
With Rori getting national acclaim, Texas should be a great candidate for the top PGs in the country. Vic is picky so it will be interesting to see who he targets going forward.
