2022 Recruiting - WBB

Anybody know what happened to Tionna Herrron? In this thread, a twitter said the the Horns had offered 6'-4" T Herron.....a freshman. However, in looking at the pictures and writeups of the playoffs, I cant find her. The other 6'-4" freshman S'Myla Smith had a great playoff run and is all over the sports pages. Did we offer the wrong DeSoto freshman post? Or is Herron injured?

Herron attended the Texas v TCU game last night. I can't find any stats on her either so maybe she is hurt. Regardless, I hope we are in the mix for her DeSoto teammates, Kendall Brown (Soph) and S'Myla Smith (Fr.)

Saw her and some other DeSoto players as I was buying a ticket. She’s at least 6’ 3”.

Ashlon Jackson will most likely be in the top 5 in her class.

Short video clip of Ashlon. Very athletic. Looks more like a Jr or Sr than a freshman.

She is definitely a top talent. I saw her play at the State Tournament and she was the best player on the HJ team. Pretty amazing for a Freshman. Tiffany Jackson has made several visits to her high school so Texas is on her early.

She strikes me as a gamer. Hope we have a strong shot at her.

Carleigh Wenzel got in an unofficial visit while her brother Brendan, 2019 SG, was on an unofficial to Texas yesterday. As often as I’ve seen it, I’ve never asked - does AutoCorrect change Aston to Ashton?

She was newcomer of the year this year as a freshman in her 6A district. At 5’-11” she averaged 14 points a game. Does anybody really know if she has an offer?

Quite a few 2022s in these photos:
  • Bre Davis - Newcomer of the year 14-5A
  • (She’s Ballin) Laila McLeod, a 2022 guard from the Lady Pro Skills program showed a lot of tools in this four-hour showcase. She has a smooth way about her and is really strong with the basketball. She has a good frame for her age and she utilized it, often getting from the perimeter to the rim in one dribble. She knocked down catch and shoot opportunities and even hit a couple of floaters in the middle of the lane to round out her day.
  • (She’s Ballin) Ayanna Thompson is another up and coming prospect from the Pro Skills program. She has good size and is smooth with the ball in her hands. This 2022 finished with both hands and showed she has a quick release on her jumper as well. She was at her best using her length and athleticism driving right.

Laila McLeod, 2022 G, 5’ 10”, Mansfield Legacy HS...won’t post the tweet because @Moooooo beat me to it. By the way, she did go back and correct meat to meet.

Hey all, I have a general scholarship question (not just Texas women, but for any major college team, men or women). If a coach makes, say, eight scholarship offers to promising student athletes but only has four scholarships available, how does that work? The first four players that accept, or what? And will the coach hold a spot for a special person, even if four have already accepted? I've been curious about this for some time, would guess some of you will know how this works. Thanks!

Guard Carleigh Wenzel (San Antonio) back on campus today for another unofficial. I’ve been told by ‘someone in the know’ that she’s a high priority target in the 2022 class.

In one of 2 stops at Alabama high schools, George Washington stopped by Athens HS to see 6’ 2” Caroline Bachus. Arkansas’ Head Coach was also at Athens today.

Looks like Jamie is picking up where Tiff left off...

Offer out to F Christeen Iwuala (San Antonio Reagan).

Eval from GirlzPrepReport:
Christeen Iwuala-6’2 post-I’m calling her a post but after doing some flashbacks in my head, I’m not committing to that. Strong body, finishes strong and rebounds on both ends however watching her handle the ball in the open court and face the basket and score from midrange will definitely give her numerous next level options as her upside is unlimited but on top of that, she’s a throwback player that battles after everything.
