2022 Recruiting - Football

Have any if you guys who keep up with recruiting heard anything concerning Marvin Mills threatening to Portal to Texas?

This seems to be all the talk at Frisco Lone Star High School. Two of my grandsons go to Lone Star, and they told me over Christmas that was the buzz.

Marvin Mills? Hmmm.. In any event, announcing ahead of time the school you are wanting to transfer is likely a first.

34 recruits and transfers will be 40% of the 85 man scholarship roster. Sark wants this number. I counted 27 folks on roster who are graduating, transferring or portalling. I may have missed 2 or so. So there are 5 more scholarship players moving elsewhere that would be news to me.

Would be a complete shocker if we got any of the sooners portal guys. I believe Weese has taken himself out of the portal.

But isn’t the crucial question, “How many of them are tight ends?” :coolnana:

You mean those kids don't have a right to make their own decisions????

I think the coach at that Frisco high school is a Sooner and I would not expect
any of his players to be Longhorns, Anyone else of that opinion?

I don't know if I know or have ever met that coach, but I damn sure know that there are HS coaches who keep certain schools out of their offices and push kids toward certain colleges. It's been going on for years and won't stop anytime soon.

We have "an enemy" in northeast Harris County for sure.

Jaylan Ford says hello.

So, 40% of the team will be first year? And pretty much our entire coaching staff has only one more year than that? Sounds like a real opportunity to temper our expectations and see how things develop. I would much rather be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed. I think this next year will be one of incremental improvements - we'll be young in key positions and still learning the system. I would hope that in year 3 it will really start rolling.

There’s a few ways to look at this:

D - Yes, we were terrible. But by my count, of the starters 8 or 9 return, and all were sophomores or beyond. So if we can improve the scheme and teaching, we should be able to plug and play either one or two “ready for prime time” incoming freshmen, or one or two high caliber transfers.

O - Our two best players are back, and more experienced. And both are arguably the best at their position in the country. That leaves the O-line and the most important position on the field, the QB. I don’t see how the OL doesn’t improve, perhaps dramatically. So, it may all come down to Ewers.

On Special Teams, the loss of Dicker is a big deal. He will not easily be replaced. The good news is that Jamison returns, joined by Worthy, so the return game has a chance to be special. Then there’s Keilan Robinson, a beast against punts and extra points.

Yes, a good one.

Point of order only. Frisco has what 12 high schools now? Some good talent starting to flow out of there now...
12 [11 Open + 1 (Panther Creek) to Open in August)]

Panther Creek is next to the PGA Complex in North Frisco (just south of 380 and west of the Tollway). Unfortunately for Panther Creek is their Attendance Zone does not include the Little Elm portion of FISD (those students will continue to go to Lone Star).

I'd take Devon over Perkins if given the choice. I'm looking straight at Aggy's potential DL (Shemar Stewart apparently looking at them hard) and I'm assuming we're going to be on the field with them in the not too distant future. We need to have road graders up front.

We have a monster OL class right now. Although I do think Campbell is still a very good option, given our lack of production at lb I think Perkins is a higher need. Perkins is almost assured to be atm but would still love to have him. He easily could be the next Derrick Johnson. atm has a great dline class just like Texas. I think ours is deeper but we just came off the worst d rating in Texas history so pk is suspect to say the least. Have said this before but the loss of Jacoby Jones in the ou game was huge and we never recovered from that. We also never got any penetration in the backfield from the dline we had.

I just have a bias for the OL. The 1990's Cowboys had a monster OL and it seemed to solve a lot of problems. They also had a very good years when they had Smith, Martin, Frederickson et al up front. I'm thinking we're going to be very young so if we have to start true freshmen, then it helps if they are 5 stars.

I say load up on OL with 4 and 5 star players. We can get a decent LB in the portal.

Let's be clear A&M signed monster defensive linemen we signed aspiring monster defensive linemen.

I hope so but we sure didnt this past year. You guys are all missing the point. PK was the dc and he produced the worst d in Longhorn history. We need a difference maker and even that may not help PK.

We knew the defense was suspect going into the season BUT NOT THAT BAD. And when we did get some 3 and outs, the offense sputtered, for the most part.
IF ONLY SARK:
Can get a revelation,
Can get an epithany,
Can see the light,
Come to a realization,
Discover the truth,
He would hire me as an offensive consultant!

I think CBS or someone gave Sark an "F" for last season. Me i say "D" and a "D" also for PK. That's because i am a nice dude who never poops on anyone.
