2022 Recruiting - Football

Nobody is safe. Nobody has an honest word. It's not a business (and that's what it is) that I admire.
And still I care.
What does that say about me?
It says you’re a fan(atic) like the rest of us and that we’re not sure what to make of the new college athletics landscape but we still crave those 4th-and-5-Rose-Bowl-run-to-the-corner moments for some reason. :idk:

Then there's this:

Texas A&M quarterback Zach Calzada enters transfer portal

"In beating Alabama, Calzada went down with a knee injury late in the fourth quarter but returned, with a knee brace, to the field to lead the Aggies on a game-winning drive. Just three weeks later, Calzada leaned into contact with an Auburn defensive back, dislocating the signal caller’s shoulder. But again, Calzada returned and led the maroon and white to a win as he would play several games later in the season with both knee and shoulder braces."

This guy overcame an injury in both the Alabama and Auburn games to lead Aggy to victory. He was a dang hero.

Now he's out of there.

Folks, being true to your school is now a relic of the oldies but goodies era. And being true to your players is in the same bargain bin, cut-out record (remember those?) section.

Nobody is safe. Nobody has an honest word. It's not a business (and that's what it is) that I admire.

And still I care.

What does that say about me?
This one really surprises me, unless Jimbo told him something. He took over and after struggling initially, he did reasonably well.

That was my immediate question: what could Jimbo have told him. I cannot imagine him saying you’re out with a new Freshman taking over. But I do not follow them unless something bad is happening so really don’t have a clue, just speculation.

not according to TexasAgs.com.He did not have enough stars when he was recruited. That board is full of posters that make TexasRed look like a sunshine pumper.

Can't take it personal..

********. I took it damn personal that Barry & Scott found the "soft underbelly" of Marcus Dupree's family and Fred and I never knew it because Tommy couldn't find out, but then neither did any other school except OU. Took two decades to learn the truth, and it ain't in the ESPN fairy tale or that stupid *** book some guy wrote.

I hated Jackie for his reaction to Brett Stafford when Brett told him he was choosing Texas, but then I had to backtrack a little bit on some of our lost recruits.

This surprises me because they have a bowl game to play...why not wait until after! Oh, wait! They need an excuse for losing their bowl game, NO QB!

Perroni from A&M 247 wrote a lengthy update on Harris today, and although he still likes where the Aggies stand, he's hedging a bit saying anything could happen and Texas is optimistic.

Reports from Texas sites continue to suggest Harris' mother wants Texas.

So how did Aggies get verbal d-line commits from 3 of the top 4 in the nation?
Has to be big bucks. I mean big bucks.
500 thousand or one million?
You have to give Aggies BMDs credit for opening the bank for coaches and players I mean they are serious about having a top-notch winning program. And They simply do not want to be known as Texas's little sister. I suggested months ago that we should open up the bank for players also. It's going to come down to this.

As we have seen in McLennan & Tarrant Counties, the largest payroll does not always equate to the most wins. Leadership has its advantages.

Really, now. Aren't there plenty of reasons to hate Jackie?

Jackie is Jackie, not always likable, not always the sharpest knife in the drawer. Saved his *** one night in Houston, and he didn't understand my actions.

I gave him a rash of **** one night at the HLS&R. I have a dozen elementary teachers in tow leaving the Hideout, where Jackie's daughter was the featured singer. I heard a voice behind me yell "coach"; I turned around and it was Jackie. We visited for a few minutes, and I introduced him to the ladies, after which I asked him, "Coach, you've got 13 people standing in front of you and 12 are Aggies. Why is the only one you know a T-sip".

I picture his buddies going to all the SEC schools with an old *** suit, saying, "Retainer".

That's genius on his part, going to be an all out bidding war for his services.

BON also reports Ewers to Horns

About 8 months ago I had an epiphany that even I couldn't understand...at the time. I made the sudden, inexplicable decision, even though I am 69 yrs old, to let my freak flag fly, & I now rock a mullet. Something I didn't even do in the 80's.

So I am not drinking the Kool-Aid, but I AM rollin' with the mullet. Sampson understood...Coach "I'm 40" understood...let there be "mullets"; & there were/are. Now available in Burnt Orange.

IT's Nahlin feeling comfortable enough to post partial list of your 2021 class. With Campbell and Agbo added, that closes out OL recruiting. No Dewberry and Umeozulu. Transfer Curtis Dunlap from Minnesota the #1 grad transfer OL target.
