2022 Recruiting - Football

I really don’t understand what Ewers is doing, and that bothers me. After going through one recruiting cycle, committing to Texas, decommiting, enrolling at Ohio State, and now portaling, what’s in this kid’s mind and what advice is he getting? Realistically, how many kids would pick Tech over Texas? Is this a money play, an attention grab, or a genuine conundrum for he and his family?

It’s all very odd to me.

Sark was not our coach when Ewers original lt committed. I have no info but that is a possibility. He mDe one mistake and he is down to his one time mulligan.

Old, as you probably know, the fact that Herman is no longer here is perhaps the biggest reason that Texas is in the discussion. But for me, I don’t love how this is playing out. The kid hasn’t been thinking about his options….for months? No doubt he has. In fact, rumors about his portaling had been out there for a while.

First, why would Ewer announce today when Banks did? That would be overshadow Banks. Also, more national press coverage on Monday. Third, I bet Tech asked Ewer to give them one last chance on Sunday after today’s visit.

Well, in summary, we started the day with 21 commits, added a 5 star Ol, a big need, but lost a 4 star LB, another big need. I cannot think of a group, OL, DL, LB, CB, S or WR
that are not. A big need.

So we finished up with 21 commits but up 1 star and a lot of smoke. I am disappointed after spending the day hitting refresh.
My butt is sore from sitting in a broken office chair and my ARMD is protesting looking at a computer screen all day.

Not what I expected.

The thing about Oklahoma is they have hired two coordinators from the Stoops days to be HC (Riley and now Venables). Somehow, the school grooms and maintains a relationship with the coordinators. Texas seems to start from scratch every time.

I understood the relationship was between the position coaches and the recruits.

The jury is out on Venables.
