2022 Recruiting - Football

The kid from East Texas that played for the convicts in the mid 90s. Bonds in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. One helluva kick returner, but like most in Coral Gables, less of a quality human being.

More on RB Jayden Blue -- his favs sound like LSU and Texas. 247's Roach thinks we lead but others say LSU leads. He is a 4.0 GPA and those types dont usually end up at LSU, so we have that going for us. Lastly, for better or worse, both Drayton and Herman are supposedly on him.

Eric Nahlin/Inside Scoop thinks Kelvin Banks may end up being the top ranked in-state 2022 OL, over his teammate Kam Dewberry

" .... Banks surprised the few paying attention when he gave a verbal commitment to the 'Pokes last September. I was indifferent given his age and where I suspected his profile was headed. Recent clips like the one above and others have reminded college coaches that Kelvin Banks is still out there in need of being recruited.

Banks communicated with Texas for the first time in a long time last week. He also talks to Oklahoma State (of course) and LSU. Banks grew up with Kameron Dewberry, who is “next” at Atascocita after Sam Cosmi and Kenyon Green. The two would like to play together, but Banks acknowledges that may not happen “because we have such different personalities.” Finding a school that fits both may prove difficult. I’m not sure I agree with that but it’s refreshing to not read “we’re a packaged deal! [package emoji, handshake emoji].”

Dewberry has a higher profile than Banks and talks with LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas, USC, and Penn State the most. I’ve always felt Texas was in good shape with Dewberry but recruiting is going to start getting serious and become more business-like. "

We offered 5'10 ATH/WR Kaden Saunders, the #5 player in Ohio per 247
He had already put out a 'top 7' but seems happy to get the offer. He carries a good GPA and was a military kid so might not feel ties to Big 10 country

This could be a good culture fit. Texas has had several military kids and vets be good examples. He must have visited and Mom seems to have bought in. Sounds like a young man who can see the cesspool that aOSU is.

Great article EXEPT there is no 40 time, shuttle time, vertical, bench press?

Great that he has all these offers, but with schools handing out 400+ offers, please give me some reason to be excited other than his list of offers

Would be nice to land this guy
His HS coach has ties to the program
We will see

Here is Mile Roach on Ewers

I spoke with Southlake Carroll quarterback Quinn Ewers today. It sounds like the recruiting process is still going pretty slow for him and he doesn’t feel a need to rush. He remains in contact with several schools, including Texas. While he doesn’t really like to talk about his recruitment much, I asked him which school was on him the hardest right now and he said Ohio State would have to be the answer. As a 2022 prospect, coaches are not supposed to call Ewers directly. At times, there can be lapses in communication if a coach reaches out to the high school. Ohio State was the first school to offer Ewers, and he has family ties to that area. While Oklahoma originally looked to be the school to threaten Texas the most, Ohio State is moving well behind the scenes.
Also, Fong downgraded his Quinn Ewers to ou CB, from a confidence level 6 to a 2

Besides Ewers being the #1 overall 2022 in 247 and ESPN, here are some other moves by 2022s we want --

Local WR Caleb Burton is up to #8 overall per 247

Duncanville DE Omari Abor to #19

OT Kelvin Banks up to #24

RB Tavorous Jones to #72 overall (#5 RB) - we were on him early, to a little bit of ridicule from some parts, but now several of the big dogs have also offered him

Duncanville OT Jaylen Early to #141

Here is the latest ESPN 300 ESPN Football Recruiting - 300 Player Rankings

Roach on our 2022 targets generally --

We’ve spent a ton of time over the last few years focusing on Texas being late on offers. Out of the 31 in-state prospects represented on this list, 26 of them hold Texas offers. In many cases, Texas was first or among the first few schools to offer. There’s definitely a change in philosophy underway.

update on Kelvin Banks ...No. 3 overall offensive tackle in the class

Four-star offensive tackle calls Texas his dream school
To me this is further proof that the brockeMyers are going to Alabama. I'm just guessing that the kids are talking to each other and since the brockemeyers are going to Alabama then Banks can slip in behind them and go to Texas. Getting Banks and Foster would be good additions if we can't get the brockemeyers, but I would rather have the brockemeyers.
