2022-2023 Season

Doubt Vic has “written off” Sonya I’m sure it’s a matter of getting the medical go ahead. I’m not optimistic since it involves a blood clot and that takes time

What I meant was here was the exchange:

Alex Loeb: "So do you think Sonja will make it back in time for the NCAA tournament?"

Vic: "I don't know. I don't know if she'll ever be back"

[A few seconds later]

Vic: "I have to deal with the players I have now"

I'm not trying to imply Vic has walked away from Sonja. It's just that since she's day-to-day, he isn't assuming she'll be back in time for the NCAA's.

I'm afraid she's lost for the remainder of the season.

Not once this season have I felt this team was playing at or near the top of their potential (for various reasons), but here we are. The last game of the regular season playing to win the conference title. Pretty amazing.

Had it not have gone all crossways I will always believe we could have had a season to match that preseason top four ranking. Instead life handed this team one negative blow after another and it’s been frustrating to all concerned.

It ain’t over yet which is a good thing, but our expectations have certainly been lowered. This one will go down as a “what could have been season” more than likely but I’m ready to ride it out and see what happens. Hopefully the team continues that Texas Fight they have within them.

Got my tickets to the conference tournament this week and the seats are not as good as last season. Instead of being across the court from one of the benches, it’s an endzone corner that is setback a bit further from what I remembered. More Big 12 shenanigans? Probably so! Oh well, maybe Iowa St gets knocked out early and there will be plenty of empty seats in their home away from home.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly and, like you, I'm with my squad win, lose, or draw!
:hookem2:

Reality Check: We just won the conference championship.

Did that just happen? Amo out injured. Morris out injured. Four others player out injured. Wow. That happened.

I had a coach years ago tell me that you have to pee every drop if you want to win. Well, we are going to have to piss every drop and then some to get through the conference tournament. Can this team do it? Sure. Absolutely they can. Will they do it? I’ve got no idea.

Will the all conference selections be announced today? I'm curious how we'll do considering the men placed second and only got 1 big award winner, 2 people on the all conference and one honorable mention.

So who thinks it makes sense that oU is ranked ahead of us? This is why it’s a good idea not to lose big Monday nationally televised games. Maybe this will add to the incentive for the conference tournament this week.

Right... after we beat the piss out of them twice. The pollsters aren't going to show us much love, and I don't expect much from around the Big 12 when the honors are announced this week either.

Considering our records against ranked teams and our NET rating, it seems like someone definitely got something wrong. But, then again, as you said we played pretty poorly for the world to see.

I'd rather the selection committee value us over OU (which they have been based on the reveals); the human polls don't carry any weight in the committee's eyes. Not sure why so many on here get so upset about the human polls.

If anyone attends the WBB celebration (today?), would love to get an update on how Sonya looks and whether or not she climbs the ladder to cut a piece of the net (kinda doubting that part, but interested nonetheless).

The lack of respect by the opinion polls is actually comical to me. Especially, like you said, when comparing them to the NCAA net rankings.
And, let's not forget these same human polls ranked us pre-season Top 5. We've had a down and up season; can't necessarily blame the pollsters for the rollercoaster ride of a season we've had.

The polls or “human” polls as you call them are a part of the game and they absolutely affect the fan base. Attendance goes up the closer we get to Top 10. So it affects our marketing, our ticket revenue and our home court advantage. Other than that, they are indeed useless. We didn’t just sweep OU, we mopped the floor with them both here and on their home court.

If the sportswriters are ranking based on one nationally televised game then the poll should be shut down and only the net ranking numbers should be used. I certainly didn’t see UConn fall very far when they dropped two back to back against unranked teams. And they surely didn’t fall behind another team that they had swept.

We have a net ranking of 11 and we have hovered around that mark for several weeks. We’ve been Top 16 in committee reveals twice. OU has a net ranking of 36 and has never been even mentioned in the committee reveals. What exactly are the sports writers using to decide because the majority of teams didn’t have a nationally televised loss or win if that’s the benchmark.

Hope this works -- https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FqkBZ4SWAAMihR-?format=jpg&name=large From Danny Davis' twitter. Sonya first up the ladder.

Thanks for the post. Great to see Sonya can climb a ladder! Can't quite tell if she's in the same practice gear as everyone else. Judging by the net, they let her go first too.
She's not the only one who can climb a ladder. What about Coach Conradt at age 81? Coach Conradt.jpg

Also, I saw Sonya leave with the trainer while the others were still there signing autographs. Sonya was flashing her big smile after cutting her part of the net.

Not sure if this is the right place for this. I'm looking to buy tickets to the NCAA first rounds. It's offering GA only. As a non-season ticket holder, is that my only option? I don't expect court-side, but would be happy to have reserved seats.

Season ticket holders got a notice and a link to “reserve the reserved seats” but the link was really wonky and didn’t work at first. I eventuality just went to TexasSports.com and clicked on women’s basketball and then tickets and found a link that offered GA and Reserved. I eventually got a message telling me that I had reserved two seats (unknown location) and would be charged once the tournament was set.
