2022-2023 Season

We are back in the polls this week at #25, Baylor is unranked after an 0-2 week. Our NET leads the B12 at #10.

Oklahoma ranked #15, NET #46
Iowa State ranked #18, NET #14
Baylor RV, NET #25
Kansas RV, NET #34
WVU RV, NET #65
OSU NET #50
KSU NET #67
TTU NET #73
TCU NET #133

Only 5 games into conference play and no undefeated teams with Texas and Oklahoma tied for first place at 4-1 and four teams at 3-2 right now. Looks to be an interesting conference race
Just wondering if, in this race, there might be any one team who is circled on other teams' calendars.

As much as I'd like us to host, and I beleive we will, I think Coach wants the team to be on an up-swing going into tourney. It's a long season and we are not half way yet. This is a different type team than we've had the first 2 seasons with Coach. I know we are young on the perimeter, but I thought going into season we wanted to be longer and more athletic on the perimeter too. Now I think we just need to get everyone comfortable in their roles. The 2 freshmen will only get better...just wait and see. Hookem!
As I said before, the 2 previous seasons should have taught us Coach plays the loong game. Especially with this team its gonna take time. The Team/Freshmen will get better. This is far from a finished product, lets just be patient.

B12 playing games again. Shaylee can win National Player of the Week, but apparently not B12 player of the week :e-thinking: (and remember, the one the B12 gave it to got ejected and then went double birdies to the crowd - nice look B12):

The Big 12 pettiness knows no bounds nevermind that Texas players work just as hard or harder as any other student athlete in the conference

What’s that word you can’t type on here without it turning to *** when you type it? That’s the word for the B12 weekly award voters.

I just want to point something out that I’ve been meaning to for quite awhile (like two years). The traffic on this forum is WAY higher than on the Mens BB Forum which is hard to believe if you’ve been here as long or longer than I have (this isn’t my first account long story lol)

I’m not sure exactly WHY it’s so much higher, but it’s a good reflection on the WBB program under Vic. I suspect there’s several factors involved including demographics. I mean, the other forum used to far eclipse this one so I don’t think it’s just the two Elite Eights. I’m an analyst so I’d love to get my hands on a bunch of data for the details.

Uh oh. So now we have to come out and represent the WHOLE STATE. C'mon Vic. No more losing to in-state pretenders that have nothing to play for.

Charlie-boy releases latest braketology just now (1/27). He's still trying to find his own a**. He has us as a 7-seed, but Bailer as a 6-seed, oU as a 5-seed, and IowaSt. as a 4-seed. I don't think he follows Big12 WBB.
Women's Bracketology: UConn replaces Ohio State as No. 1 seed

By comparison, current NCAA net rankings for B12 Teams are:
Texas: 11
IowaSt: 12
Bailer: 26
Kansas: 32
oU: 46
OkSt: 48
KSt: 64
WVu: 70
TxTch: 71
TCU: 162

Isn't Charlie-boy the same guy who said Maryland would hang 100 on us in the 2021 NCAA tourney? You would think he knows not to mess with Vic's teams.

He's a freakin idiot who gets paid for his WBB projectons mainly by default, because who else is there? He has no competition so he doesn't have to be real informed -- and I halfway believe they publish his BS just to say they're "covering" the women's game.

I’m pretty sure that not only is the committee a lot smarter, they actually pay attention to what happens on the court. If we stay healthy and keep stacking wins, the earlier losses mean less and less. I have to think Net rankings would hold more water than simply W-L’s at the end of the regular season for Texas.

But it seriously looks like he doesn’t have the first clue about the Big 12 right now

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: anyone dumb enough to make bracket projection at the start of the season like Charlie does, isn’t just click bait, they are a total waste of space. About now is when projections even slightly mean anything. Unfortunately, Charles In Charge usually has it wrong right up until announcement day.

#24 this week. I certainly wish our team would take this as a slight, and use it as motivation to stay focused and keep giving that 150% effort.
Often it seems like polls are more of a popularity contest rather than a reflection of schedules and net rankings. I guess on a positive note we can say Texas is the only team with 6 losses to make the rankings.

Being ranked #24 after beating current #20 OU, and #12 IowaSt handily, is getting pretty ridiculous. These pollsters are morons. Danny Davis (who is pretty cautious about avoiding homerism) ranked us #11 today, ISU #12 and OU #19 - all of which makes sense, especially when you look at everyones' NCAA net rankings. Danny appeared on a podcast last week with a few other voters to discuss how they decide how to cast their votes each week. He really likes to look at those Net rankings which take strength of schedule into account:
Top 25 Voter Pod: Making Texas history, Baylor's big win streak, inside AP poll voting and more

This is a nice feature on Sonya. Really impressed by the part where Vic was honest with her during her visit on how hard it was going to be and she wanted to come anyway to be challenged.

Iowa State moved up to #12
OU moved down to #20
And after beating both of them, we ended up at… checks notes, does the math, rechecks notes, refreshes screen… #24

Now, I have to head to SiriusXM to listen to the interview. May be related to the interaction he had with the Girl Scout and her cookie sale
