2022-2023 Season

Other Big 12 names on the list:
  • Baylor - Nalyssa Smith, Queen Egbo, Jordan Lewis
  • TCU - Michelle Berry, Lauren Heard, Aaliyah Jackson
  • Tech - Vivian Gray, Taylah Thomas
Did I miss anyone?
So, both Warren and Ebo had until like 30 minutes ago to submit their names for the draft. Guess we'll know for sure tomorrow.

  • Players whose college teams are still active will have 48 hours following the conclusion of their final game to renounce their remaining NCAA eligibility and declare themselves available for the 2022 WNBA Draft.

Soooooo....does this mean Audrey and Lauren still have the option to return for year 5?

Those of you who do such great work scouring social media are needed more than ever.

I realize this is probably a minority opinion, but I think it is time for both to move on, with our sincere thanks and appreciation.

I've come around on Ebo staying after her performance the last 2 months of the season. She had a really rough game against Stanford but she handles the 'aircraft carriers' from other teams better than just about anyone else in the conference.

I’d love to see both back especially Ebo. Warren would also be a great mentor and role player next year.
Vic has talked about, in the context of transfers, the yin and yang of the desire to improve the team at a need position versus the risk of impairing a younger players' development. This same logic extends to super seniors.

If any of the seniors served as "mentor and role player" only, it would not be an issue. But knowing Vic's emphasis on experienced defense, I kinda doubt that would be the outcome with Jo, Audrey, or Lauren.

In calculus, it's called a local maximum, i.e. the first derivative is equal to zero. In player development, sometimes you have to accept lesser performance with a new player in order to achieve greater performance after the new player gains experience.

While I agree that an older player could potentially impede a younger player, I'm not sure that would be the case here. As Vic has stated repeatedly, players prove themselves in practice and reap the rewards in games. I think we've seen Amo come on after recovering from that injury, and she's getting playing time. Tasha the same. If Ebo is back we have decent options for 4 and 5. The 3 is a bit more fluid. If Audrey can man that position until someone steps up then I think good for us. Both Ebo and Audrey are unselfish and would understand if/when a junior player earns more playing time. This is a good problem to have.

If no Ebo and Warren on the team next season, there will be no experienced upperclassmen leadership on the squad. I guess Matharu, Gaston, and Holle are the upperclassmen, along with Femme and Kobe.

Yeah. Not to worried about that. Plenty of players with experience and the potential to be leaders. Replacing Ebo on the court would be the biggest issue. As the lack of a true low post player, with a consistent back to the basket game is the biggest area of need right now.

Well, well, well. Latasha's decision has now firmly implanted me in the camp that believes we need a Center. So disheartened to see her go...she will be special.

Vic is 'gonna have to pull something out of his butt, er, I mean the portal, to compensate.

He may have been waiting on Latasha's decision before moving aggressively to secure a transfer.

The Harmon Hub?

I can not recall Texas ever having given a player this degree of recognition, all of it deserved. Her own tab on the team page...wow.

(It's been out there since mid-March, but I just noticed it.)

Hopefully, there will be more of these for other players as they develop more notoriety.

Tennessee should be an absolute BEAST next year with their additions. I have even heard a rumor that Saniya Rivers will be going there from South Carolina. They have definitely filled in any holes they had.

I have a really good feeling about Kobe for this year, She is an offensive machine, can handle and pass the ball, and if healthy, could really contribute at the 3 spot.

She only played in 3 games last year for a total of 31 minutes. Was that because she was injured? I have no idea how good she is compared to the rest of the team. Same for Masudi.
