2021 Season

This was an intense match. WVU looked better in the first half, but Texas looked really solid in the second half. In my personal (subjective) opinion, there were some missed fouls that would've REALLY benefitted Texas.

An 0-0 draw.

Julia Grosso was out (not sure why though - I missed that).

TCU now has more points in Big 12 play. HUGE match vs. OK State this weekend.
 
Texas hasn't allowed a goal since the 10th minute of the first half against TCU (also a 1-1 tie).

That's four+ games. 2-0-2 in that span. But haven't scored since ISU game either.

You put it correctly when you said this was an intense game!! AND there were some fouls committed that were not called! I felt Texas was much more the aggressor but just couldn’t put it away. Our passing and ball control has gotten so much better thru out the season. And the upcoming okie lite game is indeed huge!

Grosso was out because she is doing something or other with the Canadian national team right now. Wish we had her yesterday.
 
Finally a nice 2-1 win over Okie St.

Shutout streak ends at 550+ (554) minutes.

Could get a rematch with them in the conference tourney, which starts in a week in Round Rock.

Kansas on Thursday who’s been somewhat of a giant slayer in the Big 12. Gotta keep pressure on TCU. TCU has more losses (1) but fewer ties and more wins so they’re in 1st right now.
 
This team is so frustrating. After that first goal it looked like they just lost all energy to score. They looked better in the second half but never looked in rhythm. How many shots at goal did we even have in the second half? Have to admit our defensive play was good overall. Generally speaking I find soccer a very frustrating game.
 
RPI has risen to #36. That's nice. I think it is *possible* if we get a seed if we win the Big 12.

Kansas is a top 100 RPI. That shouldn't change even if they lose to Texas.

If we get the #1 seed, we're looking at a quarterfinal match with Kansas or KSU (if they beat and don't tie with ISU). KSU has a probable sub-150, so hopefully we get Kansas again. Semifinal would be Tech (80) or WVU (Top 50) most likely (possibly OSU, 60). If we get a re-match with TCU would be a good RPI boost regardless.

If we get the #2 seed, we're looking at a quarterfinal match with Oklahoma. Hopefully by playing Baylor, they creep back into top 100 RPI. Then a likely semi against Baylor (top 50).

Winning the Big 12 tournament (and possibly regular season) would be a good resume for a top 16 seed. But either way, I think we should get an at-large.

I would like to like this post about 10 times! Coach Kelly has really worked hard to build this team and I’m a big fan of hers! It appears the soccer team will finally make the NCAA tournament as UTex stated! She had a super 2021 recruiting class and I heard one of the announcers state her 2022 class looked to be great as well. Has anyone seen any thing on the 2022 soccer recruiting class?
 
The game in Lawrence is windy, cold, and wet. Not a great combo. First half was pretty balanced but I’d give the edge to Texas pressure.

Out of the half, Byars and Missimo each get goals and we’re up 2-0 with about half the half to play.

Meanwhile looks like Tech-TCU are tied.

If results hold, we are regular season champs. But that’s an if. Gonna be a fun next 30 minutes!

They said Kelly was holding her out for Kansas as a precaution. Announcers said she’d be back for tourney.

It makes sense since Lawrence conditions were less than ideal.
 
Exited for the game!!!

Goals seem to be hard to come by in Round Rock so far. But the last time we played OU I think there were 7 goals scored!

TCU advanced in penalties over #8 seed Iowa State. Can’t take off for any team.
 
Another 7 goal UT-OU match. This time, 5-2 for the Longhorns.

1st Half Brace for McFarland
3 Assists for Missimo.

No Grosso tonight.

Play again Thursday. Winner of WVU/Baylor. If Baylor wins it’ll be four Texas teams in semis!
 
RPI up to #33. WVU will be a top 50 boost and if we get TCU that's a top 10. Would LOVE to get up to a top 16 seed. If we win the Big 12 Tourney, I *think* we could compete for it. But, it may just not be in the cards this year. Making the tournament and winning one or two would be AWESOME!

They are playing extremely well right now and they’re fun to watch! I really really hate they are playing the same time as the WBB team!!! In town and was planning to see them play. Oh well I’ll keep up with the soccer game stats as the game progresses!

The team is so fun to watch! And knowing that we have some amazing youth and great incoming is just exciting! Soccer is such a niche game for attendance but hopefully the team knows they're supported!!! GO HORNS!
 
Going to OT against WVU.

I thought we looked great in the first half. Second half was still better but WVU was vastly better in second. I was kind of surprised that we dictated so much in the first.

Golden goal time! Or a shootout. Either way, this is tense!
 
2nd OT about to begin.

We survived a BIG scare and would’ve been game ender. Madden was just better.

We had a few chances in OT. Felt more like the first half (sans that one amazing chance for WVU).
 
And to a shootout we go! Very tense in Round Rock! You just know the Longhorns want it so bad but the Mountaineers have so much history on their side.
 
What an exciting game! Our girls have gotten so much better during the year! I had the game on my phone while at the WBB game in the Greg! Got great service. Was just leaving Brazos garage as regulation ended. I pulled over on an access road to watch the shoot out! Was screaming like crazy as we won! Come on now ladies let’s Beat TCU!
