2021 Season

Latest offering from ESPN ranking the Top 50 Impact players (incoming transfers and freshmen). Neither Kyra, Lauren or any of the Longhorn freshmen were on it. I can understand Lauren and the freshmen but overlooking Kyra, a veteran leader and true point guard, on a team that just lost their senior PG and got a new coaching staff? Destiny Littleton is #36! SMH.

Which women's college basketball freshmen, transfers will most influence 2020-21?
Good. More bulletin board material for our team.;)

We have Baylor very late in the schedule which is a good think imo. We play @ Baylor February 14th. And the last big 12 match up of the season is Baylor comes here March 1st.

Another thing, are teams allowed to schedule out of conference games during the conference season or do they have to stop once conference play begins? Their is a good amount of time between games. Some are up to a week before we play the next game. Will be hard to get into a rhythm when you have to wait an entire week before you play your next game.

So we’re not playing UConn? I might’ve missed it earlier up in the thread.

It looks like they dropped in 1 nonconference game after Big12 play starts - Lamar comes after the Kansas and K-State games. Empress returns to the Erwin Center - she is in her second year as an assistant at Lamar. A Vic tie-in to Lamar: Head coach Aqua Franklin was one of Vic’s assistants his first 2 years at Mississippi State.

Actually all kinds of reunions in Austin during nonconference play:
  • SMU - Travis Mays, Amie Smith Bradley
  • North Texas - Jalie Mitchell, Jamie Carey, Kelby Jones

Looks like the Mens and women's basketball team will have a double header on opening day! Everyone going might as well stay and support both teams:hookem:

Non-conference schedule is pretty much what I was expecting. Obviously, we lost road games at Arizona and Stanford due to PAC 12 not playing until January. But, getting home games against A&M and Tennessee is great. I thought we'd get a return home game against South Florida, but maybe that was postponed until the following season. Surprised we have zero road non-conference games, but it is what it is.

SMU
North Texas
Louisiana Tech
Texas A&M
Idaho
Tennessee
Lamar

Comparing our non-conference schedule to Baylor's:

Central Arkansas
Northwestern State
@ South Florida
@Arkansas
Southern
McNeese State
UConn

From her sophomore-senior year. She was the #1 player in her class until she got injured and she has never had a full healthy season since her freshman year
Hopefully the strength snd conditioning program will help her overcome such obstacles. I am anxious to watch her play when she gets healthy.

When Vic signed Gaston at MSU last November, he was quoted as saying he believed she was all healed up. I did not follow her season at Pearland, so not sure if she remained healthy all season.

The DMNews today discussed a little on Didi Richards injury. She is still having minor leg strength loss and has to have some support at times. Doesnt sound like she will be in game shape for some time. The article does say that she is expected to play this year but when is still TBD.
