2021 Recruiting - WBB

Paige Bradley from Bishop Lynch and a UT commit scored 14 in a blowout on Tuesday night. The blowout over Skyline was a surprise. Good to get the first DMNews girls high school results for the year. Guess it is ok to report Andrews had 40 in first game? No mention of Gusters in box score.

Precious johnson the 2020 post commit dropped 33 in her first game so she has really been working over the summer considering her season high last season was 14

Paige Bradley of Bishop Lynch and Texas commitment had 15 in a win over Greenhill. Top scorer on the team. I am not sure about BL this year as the win was low scoring and not too impressive against the private Greenhill team that is not known for its girls basketball in Metroplex circles.

Bradley had 16 last night in a loss. Bishop Lynch appears to be down this year from previous years. The loss was in the neighborhood of 9 or 10. My memory is fading fast!

Paige is on an average Bishop Lynch team this year. At least “average” compared to past years (decades). Yesterday in the Sandra Meadows Classic in Duncanville, BL beat Pasadena Dobie by 47-40. Bradley had 3 points and was the fifth leading scorer on the team. Based simply on box scores so far this year, I am not certain about her state/national ranking and future role at Texas. Early commitment to Power Five school and legacy/name recognition may have elevated her high status as a recruit. Again only based on box scores.

Or maybe she’s had success playing on the AAU circuit which is much more telling than high school ball.

Kyndall Hunter must be the real deal! She was the MVP AT 2 tournaments this year. I can’t find much on her recruiting! At one point it was announced that she and her teammate, Rori Harmon, had received offers from Texas. As many players do they are playing their school interest close to the vest.

Considering the way this season is playing out and, probably more important - the contract/job status of KA, I think we can safely assume none of us should be expecting any additional 2021 commitments for quite a while.

This is what comes with change. Some players on the current roster may in fact be dedicated to Aston as a coach so if Aston were to not have her contract renewed then I wouldn't be surprised if some players were to leave. Hopefully nobody does and we only add to the team instead of replacing but that decision isn't for another couple of months so we will see how the season plays out but the way CDC is going about Texas sports I just don't see him settling for anything less than great for any sport so it was a good run Aston but it's time to move on.

Interesting perspective from Raoul. First, he's a bit sensitive about credit, etc. So here is his Twitter perspective, followed by the blog links. Then, I attach comparison pictures so you can view "side-by-side". I clench my teeth posting this because I don't want this to devolve into the usual ongoing feud between Baylor(Mulkey)-vs-Texas(Aston).....supporters/haters.

Not sure this should go on the HS Playoff thread or this one but had to choose. I have seen little chatter about who Hunter and Harmon are considering. Both are listed as 2021 point guards. For sure Texas will need a point guard in this class. Cypress Creek is 35-0 with them leading. Sure hope we can see them later in the playoffs on TV. Would be great if they matched up with Duncanville or DeSoto at state. Anybody out there have any comments about these two players who have Texas offers...…...or the possibility of seeing them in the state tournament?

Cypress Creek should make it to the regional tournament where they will probably meet Summer Creek in the first round. SC beat them by 15 early in the year at the McDonald’s tournament. Doubt we see them in the state tournament. No idea who they are interested in. They both went dark on social media early in the school year. Baylor will get them if they want them.

So CC is now shown as 36-0. Did the Loss to Summer Creek not count? So is Summer Creek that good? Guess so. What player leads them to those heights?

Sorry flash I was looking at the Summer Creek schedule where Cy Creek had beaten them by 15! Cy Creek definitely look to make State. Expect them to play Fort Bend Thompkins and Summer Creek in the regionals

Cy Creek just demolished Summer Creek by about 30 in the regional semis. Harmon was spectacularly good. Her ball handling is just amazing. Hunter led the team in scoring, but I really felt like Harmon was the MVP of the game.

Paige Bradley, UT's only commitment in 2021 so far was voted as offensive player of the year in Bishop Lynch's TAPS district. This was according to the Dallas Morning News today in its listing of 2A-6A MVP, offensive POY, defensive POY and district first team selections for the Metroplex. In perusing all the names, all of the usual suspects that don't need any more spotlight were there. Interesting to see the underclass players for next year. Duncanville, DeSoto and several others have lots of returning players. It is available on-line and its free...... so go out there and see if you notice anything interesting. As this article was for each district, the DMNews says its selection of overall Metroplex area honorees will be "coming soon".
