2021 Recruiting - WBB

Bradley seemed excited (on twitter) when Moore and Harmon committed, sending out her congrats about playing together in the future at Texas. Perhaps there were some recent discussions with the coaches about how she'd fit in playing-wise . . .

The handwriting on the wall.
I knew it was coming. I like her and her style of play & I think she knew that she wouldn't get much playing time under Vic. I hate to say it but I am kind of happy because now that gives us an open scholarship and the chance to get another 2021 star hopefully Maryam Dauda or Clarice Akunwafo.

I see that Paige isn't in the HoopGurlz top 100 -- is she ranked by any of the recruiting ranking services?

ProspectsNation has her at #66. I like her outside shooting and court awareness. Seems like she’d be a good teammate too but this is hopefully a beneficial decision for her.

I am very sad that this appears to be part of the price of the coaching change. No I will not be surprised to see additional similar announcements,
Who else is committed? I don't know who the other announcement would be from unless some players on the current roster want out

I'd be willing to bet Dauda goes to Arkansas.

Bradley has interest from a lot of teams: TCU, UNT, UTA, Alabama, Tulsa, Rice, and Kansas among others. Hopefully she doesn’t end up in the B12, she’s a tough player and is gonna be a big contributor wherever she goes.

I have not seen any video of Paige's play. So, I don't have an opinion about her skill and talent, and projection in college and in Vic's style of hoops play.

Kind of like with Shae Routt, Coach Aston often seems to feel the need to offer "legacy" recruits at a very young age, especially those whose mothers played hoops for Texas. And, these recruits have grown up loving Texas their whole lives; so, it's an "easy" sell to get their verbal commitments.

But, as cold as it sounds, this is "business". The decision has been made for Texas and Paige to go in different directions. Vic and staff have to make tough coaching decisions, and that includes recruiting. They are being paid a lot of money to win basketball games, and be successful in the post-season. So, they have to decide which recruits will help them do that, or in the end, their jobs are at stake.

Honestly, I'm no longer worried about what players other schools get. What I DO know is we finally have a coaching staff that will develop and get the most out of whatever we have to work with. I'm good with that.

I kind of like it when an young athlete makes a decision, that they beleive is in their best interest. Just dont like the "Bru McCoy" type moves. Wishing Paige much success in her future.

Absolutely. It's very important to choose the right program where you fit and can contribute in ways that you're happy with. I applaud kids (and their parents) who see the whole picture and make decisions accordingly.

Obviously, Coach wants a larger 2021 class than he has now (two), since he offered Aubryanna Hall. I also assume he doesn't wish to be burdened with a full 15-player class in 2021.

With that in mind, it leads me to believe there will be more attrition than I originally imagined. I had previously thought one player each from the current Junior, Sophomore and Freshman class.

Hall, by the way, is the type of player I think we'll see more of. Tall for a guard, and scrappy.

Obviously Schaefer knows one or more remaining players will not be back in 2021.....even after Bradley decommited. Hall was offered my MState before Schaefer left. So if she comes, that would get back to 16. I am still thinking he wants that aircraft carrier in the middle. So whether he gets a 2020 big to change their commitment, or has to wait to 2021, I think his team is still missing that one big that he covets. So I am guessing 2 remaining players will leave before 2021.

Definitely get why you described her as scrappy. Active on the boards and knows how to find the open player for the better scoring opportunity. Reminds me of a lot of the off guards we’ve seen at Mississippi State the past few years.

Well...I guess we can scratch Clarice Okunwafo off the list. Committed to USC. Must love the school because that program is a middle of the pack finisher at best in the PAC12.
