2021 Recruiting - Football

Looks like he has 6 fingers - cant be bad for a ball carrier

From Justin Wells
UPDATE: 5:40pm
Wheaton enjoyed the one-day trip.
It looks like a Texas-ou battle right now. There’s a sense he stays close to home.
SMU is throwing its hat in the ring.
No timetable on commitment, no idea when he’ll take OVs.

From the IT Scoop -- JOJO EARLE

He's back. The 5-foot-9, 174-pound mighty mite from perennial power Aledo is a relatively quiet kid that doesn't get caught up in recruiting like many other prospects. He's a grounded, priority-based young man who lets his play on the field do the talking. With 3,500 total yards and 45 touchdowns in two seasons, those numbers are loud.

During UT's offseason overhaul on the coaching staff, his name got lost in the mix. It was time for UT and wide receivers coach Andre Coleman to make up for lost time. That happened. "I can't even remember the last time I visited Texas," said Earle, with a laugh.

Only 12 months ago, Texas was the team to beat for the four-star dynamo's services. Then the rest of the country caught up to what the Texas staff already knew; he's a playmaker. It appeared LSU and TCU held the latest advantage, and after Earle missed his unofficial visit to Austin in January, the distance between him and UT looked quite large.

Enter Coach Coleman, who sources say is going full throttle in the Earle pursuit. But also coach Jay Valai, who has a great relationship with Earle and his safety teammate BJ Allen (more on him below).

"I really enjoyed my time," Earle said. "I heard some good things that opened my eyes about the university."

In the Herman-Yurcich offensive collaboration, the inside receivers are put in a position to not only succeed but to put up gigantic numbers similar to Lil'Jordan Humphrey in 2018 and Devin Duvernay in 2019. Earle, who was accompanied by his parents and uncle, sees himself as a natural fit in what Texas wants to do in 2020.

Earle wants to visit Baton Rouge this spring, and is unsure if there's any other trips he'll be making until the summer.

Texas had one goal in regards to Earle on Sunday; get back in this. And I believe they did just that.

Lots of good news (except for the Milroe bit)...
...But all that matters is how we look on the field this year...
A year like 2019 will kill the opportunity we have.....
A statement year will take us to next level recruiting ...and fast
Go donkey stomp ou and take care of other expected business and guys like Cam will have easy decisions to make

That plan would kill the entire college recruiting industry
Only the rumors. There are enough of those to totally confuse a young kid who is attempting to decide his future already. Hence my advocation of finding those who want to plan for life after football and not the other way around.

Here is some Mike Roach on the Florida visitors
WR Agiye Hall, IMG. Hall is a huge Texas target, but the Longhorns weren’t included in his most recent top-four cut. Hall is high on Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Arizona State. Texas will get a chance to gain some ground in that recruitment after hosting Hall on Monday with his 7v7 team.

Actually a good review. The only way football would be affected is if the NCAA decides to grant an additional season based on equality - all athletes treated the same. The issue of the scholarships is an easy fix by saying those granted an extra year do not count towards the scholarship limit.

Are you suggesting equality demands a 5th year for Sam?

Sounds like Spring Sport scholarship athletes will get an extra year of eligibility.
Agree, but the NCAA and university presidents are so politically correct and afraid of their own shadows that they would try to say all athletes have to be treated the same way. Thus the fall athletes would enjoy an extra year.

I don't think it will happen, but if some less than honest lawyer can get one football player to say they are being discriminated against by either the NCAA or the school and files a federal lawsuit the schools will fold like the aggies every October.

On a serious note remember it is all athletes being granted an extra year, not just seniors.

Right, I thought it was clear .... the Equal Protection clauses of the 5th and 14th Amendments, when combined with Title IX, demand Sam Ehlinger get an extra year at QB for Texas

Incorrect. The NCAA provision only applies to Spring sports athletes, not athletics completed this last Fall.
Reread what was written. I acknowledged that a move to include all athletes was a very long shot. However all it will take is one federal discrimation lawsuit to change that.

I think the NCAA has a different set of rules for each sport, such as eligibility, etc. So, don’t see how your case being remotely sensible.
