2021 Recruiting - Football

They are RBs not Olympic hopefuls. How many Jamaal Charles' have we seen since Jamaal Charles? (or before, for that matter?)
They both have a good initial burst, but neither apparently has elite long speed
I second this. For football, it’s the first 20, 10, or even 5 yards that count the most. Anything beyond that is mostly just good for deep patterns (and covering deep patterns), returning kicks, and breakaway runs. Hall of fame RB Marcus Allen ran a 4.7 plus 40 yard dash. And he wasn’t that big.

I’m not against sprinters with great 100m times, but it’s usually of marginal relevance on the field. Of course, the guys with great 100m times often also have great 40 times and a quick burst off the line...

Inside Texas thinks WR Ketron Jackson is now trending away from Texas.

Part of this at least is that coaches are happy with what they are seeing from our receiver room right now, with all the new guys are out there. The idea is that Jackson is good but his skillset would be redundant. Dont want to use an unnecessary schollie.

Also, with the latest rumor on #1 QB Ewers (please let that be true) plus the commit of Phaizon (both 2022s), we probably think we will be in good shape with the other top shelf 2022 WRs
Bad judgement on academic level because if his abilities and coaching do not get him to a starting level at UT, NFL is likely not happening for him. Then all he has is his education or lack thereof.

I stumbled upon this pic of Ramonce

Sad he made that dumb mistake in Georgetown. A couple of years ago he was coaching HS locally and at 30 was going to give it one last try for the NFL. At least he was telling his players, "Do not make a thoughtless stupid mistake like I did."

Pretty exciting stuff from from Super K (TFB)

If you would’ve asked me earlier this week who I felt leads for LJ Johnson, I would’ve said Texas.

If you would’ve asked me earlier this week who I felt leads for Camar Wheaton, I would’ve said Oklahoma.

I no longer believe that. My sense now is that Texas leads for both.

I don’t know how they’re going to handle this.
More and more of the top shelf backs (and their parents) are cognizant of the short life (and thus moneymaking opportunity) for RBs in the NFL. So they are more willing yo share carries in college than ever before, even looking for it

I have always thought that it could happen that way even though it was not the likeliest outcome.

Drayton will be gone to the NFL if true, or everyone else will be throwing duffel bags of money at his assistant if he does not.

Yurcich is already paying dividends and he hasn't even called one play yet!!
The stars are aligning right.
Just get us some quality meat up front and we'll be talking dynasty. Man I need to shut up ya'll.

Ever read a book called Meat on the Hoof? Just asking for a friend.

There he is and a Major Commitment. Of course many fans on HornFans will be disappointed that Herman and Yurcich well be getting 2 year extensions, because .... you know, Herman cannot recruit the 5 Stars in state. :fire::hookem2::fire:
If TH wins the big 12 a few times no one will be disappointed about a contract extension.

Mike Roach says we are going to get another good player to commit soon.
Possibly over this weekend

my guess
LJ Johnson
And,if so, best recruiting weekend in quite awhile

Also, rumor is that we changed up our "recruiting style" after the Brockermeyer-bro misses. The new style seems to be working so far

I went over to Texags to see how well they were taking the news. Found out that LLJ is their no.1 target. [wh]OOPS!

My Saturday. Chicken wings and refreshing refreshing refreshing. I want to thank all of you who give out information. I'm always lurking and rarely post. This is my favorite site even though I do pay for 247. Pretty sure I'm the originator of "I've seen better on campus", on this site. Then I got banned for a misfired joke and came back several years later. I'll try and become useful again. :bevo:
