2021 Recruiting - Football

With Herman it is they are where again? Are you saying he's better than the two star in Montreal?
Chuba Hubbard was a 3 Star in CND, eh? Worked out well for Okie light.

Best players are not all in Texas. Pretty glad to have the Aussie punters, Smith and Robinson from AZ, Thompson from OK, Watson from GA, Adimora from CA.

I don't mind a few out of state kids, but not at the risk of pissing off every HS coach in Texas with his arrogance. Before he leaves, we'll be back like it was when the HS coach of the #1 RB in the state told me, "We haven't had a visit from a member of the Texas staff in over five years".

Herman has twice as many offers OOS as in state, and he's whiffing on a bunch of top instate recruits, and I'm talking about worse than when OU, oSu, SMU, & aTm were delivering suitcases full of cash.

^SabreHorn, I mostly agree. If you look back at the start of the Mack Brown era, one of the first things he did was work hard on ties with the High School coaches in Texas. And as time passed, Mack and his staff tied up a significant percentage of the top Texas talent - and that led to a National Championship. Tom needs to do whatever it takes (himself and his staff) to reestablish those ties.
And I do agree with you on this -- cherry-picking some prime OOS talent is a good thing. But it's a great thing if you're doing that in concert with getting the top instate talent.

If we have a football season and if the 2 new coordinators perform, that will alleviate some of this. But you are correct that Mack established the ties to Texas HS coaches. Herman doesnt strike me as the kind of personality that would be a welcome sight for a HS football coach. Just my 2 cents.

Still don't get the Texas HS football coaches love. If Texas is winning they'll come to Texas...if not, they'll go look for the "shiny programs"....either in state or out....Like Herman, hate Herman, they'll come to Texas if we're stompin' mudholes in everyone....

How many high 4'star and 5'star kids from other states talk about how Texas was their childhood favorite and they didn't even get a look from Texas because Mack was filling up on 3'star in state bread. As of now we are offering the top tier kids both in state and out of state and if/when we wiff on them we are turning to the lower ranked kids on our board.

THSCA think the world needs to kiss their *** to get their players. Texas is not a school that should be kissing anyone's *** to get a kid. Either they want to be a Longhorn or they don't, Texas has a lot to offer, this isn't the 80's where we had the stigma of not recruiting inner-city kids. Right now the best players in the state want to go to big name schools like Ohio State, LSU, and Bama. Texas will reverse that when Texas starts winning big and putting kids in the league. PERIOD!

The problem is, WITH Herman, Texas won't stomp a mudhole in anyone of consequence (with enough consistency) to make people stand up and take notice.

lol. Go figure

paysites acting kinda aggy about it

Maybe you should ask the coaches of the last 3 favored teams in bowl games that Texas beat. Never accomplished before by Texas.
I still believe motivation was lacking on their part. That's the big key.
However, Herman did have us motivated and prepared. You might say that their players said they were motivated, but I think they were fooling themselves.

If Drayton does reel in Wheaton, you have to admit that would be a pretty impressive 4-year group of Ingram, Robinson, and Wheaton (+ the quick development of Roschon into a RB)

Roach on Alexis

As for Alexis, I really like the pickup for Texas. Any time you can add his type of speed (4.41 40, 10.75 100) you have to take advantage of it. Like Myslinski, Alexis has NFL bloodlines. His father Rich Alexis was an NFL running back after a productive career at the University of Washington. In speaking with our guys out in the state of Florida, it seems there are some believers there as well. I was told that Monarch isn’t a standout program in south Florida, and Alexis was still able to have a productive junior season. On film, his vertical ability is evident from the jump, but his quickness in short spaces also stands out. His build is also something that caught my eye. Like Devin Duvernay, he looks like an interior receiver built a bit like a running back which is becoming more normal in the modern age of football. I think he can be an effective outside receiver, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the was the inside receiver take of this class.

Again...Like I said..."with enough consistency) to make people stand up and take notice." Winning a bowl game against an opponent that many feel wasn't motivated, then turning around the next season and losing 4 or 5 games to teams in the Big 12 is inconsistency that keeps the beasts leaving to OOS schools.

Bring it on ....

TFB --
Still waiting for some additional confirmation but I am beginning to hear of a real possibility of some excellent recruiting news.
Would be a high profile and unexpected pick-up.
I’ll let you know once I have additional confirmation one way or another. From what I gather it should go down quickly.

I was hoping it would be an OL, since we seem to light there, but maybe this guy, which would not be bad at all
