I voted early yesterday--the first day. In the past, I have voted early for presidential elections. Whenever it's not a presidential election, I'll sometimes vote on election day. There were far more people than I've ever seen, especially for early voting. Probably 4-5 times the usual number, with very long lines out the door and down the sidewalk. I also went during a "down" hour--late morning, well before most people's lunch. The voting population I observed was dominated by senior citizens. Most of the remainder were late middle-aged. Definitely an older crowd hitting the polls early. The polling place was prepared and had more volunteers than usual. Further, most of the volunteers seemed a bit more competent and 'with it' than the usual election volunteer crowd (bless them). 6 feet social distancing was enforced (with an iron fist! just kidding ). No uniformed cops were present.
Also, interestingly, there were far fewer people pitching their candidates outside than normal.
