2020 Recruiting - WBB

I really all the freshman stay committed and all players on the roster return. These tweets are lovely to see but they also make me nervous.
I'm not nervous just yet. It's going to come down to WHO CDC hires to replace Aston. If it is a big name, I expect the better players will stay. If it's someone in the second tier or an up and comer, it will probably come down to what kind of impression they can make on the players. I would absolutely love it to be a Vic Schaefer or Jeff Walz, but I'd also be very happy with Adia Barnes and a few others.

In regards to transfers, before the pandemic took over things, there was a group within the NCAA that had issued a statement that they believed that all waiver appeals should be granted. The group that issued this statement? The waiver appeal group. The message that people on various podcasts were discussing was that the NCAA moves slow slowly when it comes to making significant rules changes like immediate transfer eligibility. But, this dedicated group within the NCAA who give the approval or disapproval could themselves just start rubber stamping ALL waiver appeals, essentially make the change 2-3 years ahead of when the final legislation for immediate eligibility becomes law.

And so it goes both ways. MSU players might come over and get rubber stamped. Key players (2?) and recruits with signed LOI's from UT could go elsewhere knowing they'd get immediate approval.

Well we know celeste taylor is not going anywhere. I don't think collier will leave neither. Can't say the same for Mississippi state's players. I do think some will follow Vic here and I am not complaining. Rickea Jackson is following Texas women's basketball. I am not sure if it's a recent thing but her and Jessika Carter are the two players Texas needs from Mississippi stae

Charli liked both the tweets from CDC announcing the hire as well as the welcome tweet from TexasWBB - seems she’s on board.

Can’t say with any certainty that Rickea following TexasWBB is significant yet. I’ve noticed a lot of players/coaches follow each other during recruiting but then never unfollow.

That was my thought as well. I figured it was during the recruiting cycle but was not for sure... I hope she does make the move though.

I’ve looked all over Twitter and, while they haven’t said anything official, Elyssa and Precious both liked and/or retweeted the hiring announcement.

Great news on the signees and current players we've heard from so far.

A big key for us is the grad-transfer PG from Harvard who I'm assuming is most likely to win the starting job based on her collegiate experience. If she decides not to come, it becomes urgent to add an experienced PG.

I remember reading that the academics/grad school of Texas was a large part of why Benzan chose us. With only one year of eligibility remaining, she will probably stay committed... I say this with fingers crossed; we definitely do need an experienced guard, & it doesn’t hurt she’s a sharp-shooter.

I hope he's recruiting Felmas Karango of Tyler JC. National Juco POY.
6'1" PF
19 ppg and 13 rpg
Yes and she is from Tyler Tx and Vic said Texas will be back at the national level if he can get the best players in Texas and she is one of the best so I hope he does not let her get away

That's where I hope Elena Lovato's JUCO connections in Texas will pay off for us if she joins the new Texas staff. Not sure which schools are recruiting her.
