2020 Recruiting - Football

are we trending at all? any good vibes?

The CBs are mixed - FSU leads with less than 50%. I dont think there are any for us. But he is an exceptional player, a real madman at OLB, so we make the effort. Getting a guy to Austin on an OV who has already declared he will not sign with an in-state school has to at least gives us a punchers chance.

From Mike Roach chat --Where do you think Texas stands with Bijan Robinson after the visit?
I don't think any schools are really separating for Robinson yet, but I think Texas put themselves in position to move away from the pack if that makes sense. This staff does a great job making out of state prospects feel at home, and they do a ton of research to make a total pitch for those recruits. They did all of those things from what I know. For a prospect like Robinson, it's about hooking him on the first visit and getting him to come back once again. IF they can get him on campus for another unofficial and a following official, I like their chances with anyone.

Rivals thinks the recruitment of OL Damieon George (from GP North Shore) is down to two teams - us and Alabama.
The indication from them is that the player likes Coach Hand while the player's mother leans Sounds.

Here, Roach gives updates on Lathan Ransom and Kelee Ringo both of Tucson Salpointe Catholic --

... Texas will get two chances this summer to make a move with elite safety prospect Lathan Ransom. Blair Angulo from 247Sports reported that Ransom scheduled an official visit for June 21st, and Ransom told me he will also be in for an unofficial visit on May 31st. The unofficial will run through June 3rd as Ransom spends time with family friends in the Austin area. Ransom used officials to Oklahoma and LSU, and he still has Notre Dame and Ohio State on the docket. Texas is on the outside here, but they have a chance to make up some ground during the summer.

.... We heard a lot of buzz around Georgia following Ringo’s visit there during the spring, and I expected some of that buzz to wear off after the visit. I checked with a source near Ringo who feels that the Dawgs have opened up a lead here, and Ringo clicked with a couple of their commits. Texas really needs to get the five-star cornerback on campus again to re-establish some position in this recruitment.

Something pulled from the Inside Texas chat on a couple of targets --

Justin Wells: Texas coaches Criag Naivar and Jason Washington were at John Tyler this evening, watching CB Kitan Crawford. His penchant for wearing burnt orange is a wonderful sign. This is trending well.

Eric Nahlin: Need more early evals like this and Jordon Thomas. It gives UT a tremendous advantage.

And speaking of Jordan Thomas, people are already saying he looks like a future 1st round pick -
