2020 Recruiting - Football

There is a JUCO CB who played with Jalen Green at Houston Heights
Marco Domio of Blinn with good size at 6'2,190. He is suddenly blowing up with offers (aggy, ou...). We are in contact as well

OK, I have to take it back, this one is weather related as well
Anyone know what they are saying about Austin Sat Night weather?

Weather.com says AM Thunderstorms for Austin Saturday, April 13. "Thunderstorms in the morning will give way to lots of sunshine late. High 81F. SE winds shifting to WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%."

Saturday night April 13: Clear. 0% precipitation. Winds NW 16 mph. 58% humidity. Low 49.

ACCU Weather says for Austin, Saturday April 13: "Clouds and sun, a couple of showers and a thunderstrom; unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. Winds from the WSW 9 mph. Gusts 16 mph" 0.2 inches of rain over 2 hours of precipitation.

KXAN Weather says for Austin, Saturday April 13: "Day: Strong to severe thunderstorms possible. 1/2 - 1 of rain expected. Night: Rain clears. Drier, cooler winds."

Consensus: It will rain on Saturday, April 13 in Austin, possibly hard, in the day, but it should be cleared up by night.

Out of all that the thing my eyes locked on was the $10 ticket price to see the spring game. Seems odd they charge anything to see a scrimmage....thought they were wealthy!?!?!?

Seems like aggy claims every other day that they "have more money." Not sure what exactly they mean by this, but you could argue that, if they believe what they say, that they have "more money" than us or anyone else, then $10 is too damn cheap.

Zach Evans is supposed to be taking the ACT this weekend. In addition his brother (who provides his transportation) is unavailable this weekend. So Evans is not visiting anyone

His teammate OL Damieon George is visiting Alabama for their spring game. He might be on commitment watch. We will see

Gruver is North of Amarillo, my home. Glad to see some interest from the Texas coaches up here again! It’ll be hard to pry him away from Oklahoma or Oklahoma State or maybe Tech. There is some talent up here! Akers recruited well up here but it’s been largely forgotten

Wiki says population less than 1,200

"WR Jalin Conyers, Gruver (Gruver, TX): One of the hottest prospects in the nation, the 6’4, 220-pound WR/TE has earned offers from LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Penn State among others in less than two months. He’s a natural fit at X, and maybe too talented not to pursue. Potential offer alert, especially given the distance he's traveling. Gruver is closer to Cheyenne than it is Austin, in more ways than one. His family is said to prefer a small town atmosphere so reactions after this weekend will be important."

Here is Inside Texas on a couple of the less talked about visitors

RB Tahj Brooks, Manor (Manor, TX): The three-star rated but perhaps four-star level tailback gets overlooked with the in-state crop, but he has D1 impact potential with almost 20 offers including Colorado, Utah, TCU, Georgia Tech, and Minnesota. Arkansas and TCU are two that are probably on him the hardest. Drayton keeps his eye on him.

RB Frank Brown, Sterling (Houston, TX): The 6’0 APB has a dozen offers - Arizona, Colorado, Arkansas - and sneaky scoring ability.

RB Bijan Robinson, Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, AZ): Texas wants at least one elite running back in 2020 and the five-star from Arizona fits the mold. This weekend is big for UT; if the staff makes an impression, that’ll trickle down to teammates and UT targets, Jonah Miller and Lathan Ransom.

RB De’Quavion Thomas, Steele (Cibolo, TX): Shorter, thicker running back with solid lateral ability but he's accurately rated as a .84 prospect. Colorado, Bowling Green among his offers.

DT James Gore, Staley (Kansas City, MO): An OOS option that Oscar Giles likes, Gore has a few offers but might not have the length the coaches are looking for. Still, you have to love the staff recruiting previously uncharted territory with so much fervor.

DE Devin Grant, Antonian Prep (San Antonio, TX): He plays basketball and runs track. Unsurprisingly both benefit him on the field. His biggest issue, other than being at a school just as likely to produce a Pope as it is a high level D1 athlete is he's a bit of a tweener for UT. He holds offers from Duke and Colorado and is hearing from Tech, A&M, and Houston. He also visited for Junior Day.

CB Aaron Reynolds, Tyler Junior College (Tyler, TX): Interesting prospect with very little fanfare. Late bloomer with South Carolina offer. Texas kicking the tires.

CB Frank Wilson IV, Brandeis (San Antonio, TX): The son of UTSA coach has some decent film.

K Jake Ruiz, Cy-Fair (Cypress, TX): Ruiz went 6/8 with a long of 45 this past season. He was also 29/30 on extra points.

Spring game visitor list - Inside Texas

One of the 2021 edge rushers visitoring this weekend -- DE/OLB Landyn Watson (6’3 235) from Hutto

"Watson is very developed physically for a 15/16-year-old. He is quick, violent, and does an exceptional job of disengaging from blockers while keeping his eyes on the football. His school plays him as a down lineman in a 3-man front, but Watson is easily projectable as a stand-up LB hybrid with his athleticism. He is already holding offers from most of the regional powers and has been a visitor to multiple in-state campuses, including Texas."

Another edge rusher visiting this weekend -- DL/OLB Shemar Turner (6’4 255) from Desoto

"Desoto played Turner last season in a role that is similar to the B-Backer position that Joseph Ossai currently occupies for Texas. He can be seen on tape making plays rushing off of the edge, dropping back in coverage, or breaking down on ball-carriers in space. Turner is an elite talent that I believe should factor heavily into the discussion for the top defensive player in the in-state class. He grew up cheering for Texas, North Carolina, and Baylor."

So basically what you are saying is that in that city 1 out of every 1200 people is a major college football prospect.
