2019 Recruiting - Football

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like Jake has gotten "thicker", particularly in the lower body over his junior film. Still maintaining his speed and quicks, though. Has to help as he moves to the rigors of the next level.

Here is some Eric Nahlin on Jake --

Ridiculous acceleration. Has the traits to be a devastating route runner which will be really unfair when they motion him around and get match-ups on lesser coverage players.

He’s going to play X, Z, H, RB, PR, and KR.

Between he and Whittington, the staff landed two of the best pound for pound pure football players in the country.

additional: Yep. He needs carries. Solid, dense build.

We’re going to see how creative this staff is. That might be the only thing that limits Smith.

... My best guess on the outside starters is Cook/Green, backed up by Watson/Boyce. They will probably both take some arrows early but then calm down (hopefully).
The starting NB is tougher to see, IMO. Probably Thompson, maybe some Foster or even Jamison or Adimora.

Some stuff on Green. He is going to be good.

Impressive. Looks a lot like K Ingram, in my opinion. Will be interesting to see how much playing time he can get early on. I don't think redshirting will be an option, given our thin RB room, unless something surprising happens on the late signing day. I did like a lot the ease with which he seemed to catch the ball out of the backfield, realizing these are highlights, of course.

TFB says Jason Washington wants to bring in aggy DB Jordan Moore (5'11,192) as a transfer. But Herman has the final say. Moore was a 4-star DB in 2018 (#225 player nationally and a top 20 safety). He played in 4g for aggy. Do we need another safety?

I don't see it now that Jones is staying. Perhaps if we just have a scholly open that we can't find a better fit for. I assume he could at least help on special teams and you can probably never have too many cover guys in the Big 12.

Yeah, we are kind of in a weird position with safeties, for the first time ever

From all the OL grad transfer names, we seem to be focussing on these two --
RJ Proctor (Virginia) and
Justin Murphy (UCLA) - played for Shipley at Belton
Both should OV to Texas.

Jordan is Joshua's brother??!!

Twins. You might also recognize their cousin in the middle

To me his running style is similar to Tre Watson. He finds the crease and accelerates through it. I thought Ingram became a little hesitant after his injury.
My opinion was that Ingram was trying to do a Le'Veon Bell thing--I see a lot of this copying, where they hesitate in the hole, deciding which way to go. Le'Veon, though is a freak, and kids should not copy him (sort of like how Stephen Curry has inspired too many would-be copycats.)

From a credible source, but I view it as RUMOR. Bru McCoy is allegedly still in play for UT. He can’t officially sign til next month, so anything is possible. But, put your $ on a USC signing.
