2019 Recruiting - Football

Fast-rising ILB David Gbenda from Katy Cinco Ranch is supposed to visit this weekend. Looks like the best ILB in state in this class by a longshot. So, hopefully we offer if he does visit

He can run like Gary Johnson

He got the offer
(our 97th of this cycle. but still 114 less than Alabama)

Something big is happening according to my FB group. This guy has been dead on way to many times. That’s why I don’t mind putting this out here from a source on FB, because he hasn’t embarrassed me yet. Still you can take it for what it’s worth.

“Big News Report from a Credible Sources -

We have a commit. Should announce within the next three weeks or sooner.

Still have one in the que so this one is different.

IMO, everyone will be a tad bit surprised.

Put it this way, I didn't expect a commit out of him. Yes, surprised in a good way.

Highly thought of.

I also heard we should hear something on our OT transfer within the next two weeks

The timeline for Anderson fits what he said it would be all along.

The Rice kid has said for months he would decide by March 24th...

What are you hearing on Whittington?

Texas is in a favorable position with him and has been every time he has talked about committing.”

Timing would match Watson^. 4-star from Georgia who you might guess would be going to Georgia

Generally, it felt like aggy had the 2019 in state momentum from the moment the 2018 class was inked. But that is changing and we seem to have grabbed it back. Long way to go.

We are salmon swimming upstream on this one, but a good sign
Green is close friends and a former teammate of current Texas OT Sam Cosmi.

With the big boys up front looking better this will be exactly what we needed for this upcoming class. We need Anderson badly to help us get to that next year. I agree, we are getting some really good in state recruits and have grabbed the momentum.

Wonder why no CBs there?

Here is something from TFB from a couple days ago on that

Jordan Whittington: This past weekend Jordan visited UCLA. As many of you know by now, he has family in that area so this wasn’t the first time Whittington has been to UCLA.

However, it was the first time that he was able to sit down with new Bruins’ coach, Chip Kelly. It sounds like Whittington came away impressed, “I did not expect the visit to have that kind of impact. I see his (Kelly’s) vision and what he he wants to do, so vividly”.

Specifically, Whittington talked about Kelly’s vision for the offense and how Jordan will fit into the scheme. Another point of impact during the visit was a discussion about life after football. Jordan says the UCLA staff made a strong case for what the UCLA network can do for him as a young man who has aspirations of getting into the music production world.

How much did the visit affect Whittington’s process moving forward?

Enough that it now appears, Jordan set up a mid-week trip to Texas this week ahead of his scheduled commitment date.

Is it just me or does it appear Herb Hand's presence has given us immediate impact in recruiting an added a sense of legitamacy to our o-line?

And this^ is legit...
I never really thought Warehime looked the part or had the presence for this job. Hand does.

Great Intel, Joe. The Brainiacs should give you an offer.

I would have never thought 2019 would even come close to the 2018 class. I'm starting to think 2019 will have a good chance of being even better than the 2018 class. Special because of the potential BEEF up front.

Did Kelly ask for Whittington's banking information?

From an IT Q&A

Q; When is Calvin Anderson expected to announce and sign? Who is the favorite now that we're in March?

Justin Wells: Looks like late March. Texas is in the driver’s seat.

aggys are going to have a good class just like Texas and blOwU. It's a matter of who gets who and who supplements with quality guys outside of Texas.

Wouldn't surprise me if all three are in the top 10 nationally. Georgia, Clemson, Bama, USC and Ohio State are all likely going to be in the top 5, but outside of those guys it's anyone's game.

Also can't sleep on schools like Flordia, LSU, UCLA, FSU, Miami, Michigan and PSU. This is going to be a year where you win or go home. Only the first year coaches can sell dreams without substance. Above all, Herman can't have another season with losses to teams like Maryland and Tech. he needs to take care of business against the little guys and win some of the big games as well.

Agree. TH has to win this year to keep the pipeline going. 7-6 or 8-5 type seasons won’t hack it.
